Maeckes (born September 20, 1982 near Stuttgart ; real name Markus Winter ) is a rapper and music producer . He is under contract with the Stuttgart independent label Chimperator Productions . Maeckes is also known as a member of the duo Maeckes & Plan B as well as part of the group The Orsons .

biography

Markus Winter was born in September 1982 to Austrian parents near Stuttgart. He grew up in Kornwestheim , from where he moved at the age of 19. As a teenager, he started freestyle rap . In 2001 Maeckes was able to increase his awareness by winning the “Royal Rumble Freestyle Battle”. During a freestyle event, he met the rapper Plan B, with whom he subsequently worked together. In 2004 the two musicians moderated the Hip-Hop Open music festival in Stuttgart. In the same year Maeckes and Plan B received artist contracts with the hip-hop label Chimperator Productions .

On January 31, 2005, Maeckes & Plan B's first release, Dayz of the Championz , was released. This was followed by a mixtape by Maeckes, which was released under the title The Better Mateja Kezman Tonträger . The title refers to the Serbian soccer player Mateja Kežman . In April 2006, Maeckes formed the “Team Stuttgart” together with Tim Xtreme, Plan B and Franky Kubrick in the Fire Over Germany competition led by Kool Savas . In 2006 and 2007 Maeckes & Plan B took over the moderation of the hip-hop and reggae festival Splash! . The duo also released the mixtape Als waers the album in 2006 and the album Als waers wir Freunde in 2007 . The mixtape is the first to hear a joint song with hip-hop musicians Tua and Kaas , with whom Maeckes and Plan B then formed the group Die Orsons . Shortly after the publication of As if we were friends , Maeckes published the experimental "Mash-Up Mixtape" as a free download via Chimperator Productions . On this he raps over instrumentals by Falco , The White Stripes or Aphex Twin .

On January 1st, the album Art About Reason was released. This is a personal, joint project between Maeckes and the singer Celina, who was under contract with Four Music at the time of creation . The two artists had previously been a couple and deal with their failed relationship on the album. In 2008 Maeckes moved from the Stuttgart area to Vienna for a year. During this time he recorded the album Null . In addition to the music, he also worked on theater projects with Plan B. The first piece, Zimmer 601 , stylistically referred to as "Rap-Up-Comedy" by the two actors, was performed for the first time in 2008 in Ludwigsburg's Karlskaserne .

On December 1, 2009, album null was released simultaneously for free download and in a limited edition with additional titles in physical form. The CD could only be purchased exclusively in the online shop of his label Chimperator and was sold out after just four days. The songs Copy and paste love , All like me and I have to go were implemented as videos. While the first two videos celebrated their premiere on Tape.tv , I must go was the first video by Maeckes to be broadcast on MTV Urban , where it took first place. The null album served primarily as a teaser for the release KIDS, which was announced as Maecke's “first major solo album” .

KIDS was released on March 26, 2010. The album entered the German album charts at number 96. At the beginning of March, the piece Greyscale rainbow was published on the online portal schülerVZ . Shortly afterwards, the song Verglast & Zugemauert , a homage to the Austrian musician Falco, was also offered for free download on the Motor.de website . During the marketing phase for the album KIDS , MTV had already broadcast a portrait about Maeckes, in which, among other things, his artistic work is highlighted alongside music, such as painting or theater. During the release week of KIDS , the video for greyscale rainbow celebrated its premiere on the MTV show brand: neu . The video was made by director Niels Münter, who had already shot videos for Kool Savas and Azad , and was the first video to be regularly rotated by Chimperator Productions on MTV. From the beginning of March to the middle of April 2010 Maeckes completed a concert tour under the title “Null Kids Tour”, in which the soul singer Vasee appeared in the opening act .

In 2010 the album Eins was released, which consists exclusively of remixes of the songs from album Null .

In the summer of 2011, Maeckes and his group Die Orsons signed a contract with the major label Universal . As a solo artist he released the EP Manx on November 11, 2011 via Chimperator Productions . Videos were filmed for three songs from the EP, Piss from Wine Glasses , a collaboration with JAW , No Man's Land , which was created together with Tua, and SLBST .

In spring 2014 the album Zwei was released , which picks up songs and ideas from one and uses them again. For every song on two there is a previous version on one . The only feature on this album is Edgar Wasser .

His new album Tilt was released on October 21, 2016 .

On July 23, 2019, Maeckes announced a new concert series of his guitar concerts.
