Mamadee (* 1979 in Dresden as Mamadee Wappler ) is a German reggae singer and songwriter.

family

Mamadee grew up near Zwickau as the daughter of an African from Sierra Leone and a German mother . She now lives in Cologne .

With her song “Farbgesetz”, Mamadee became a member of the Sisters Keepers in 2000 and is now a member of the board. Since her tour of Germany in 2002 she has accompanied gentlemen as a background singer. On the album “Gentleman And The Far East Band Live” you can also find her song “Good Days”, which she wrote and sang together with her colleague Tamika. She also appeared on various albums by other artists, such as Mellow Mark and Seeed .

Mamadee does not only do reggae, but also jazz , gospel and soul , among other things . In 2004 her first own EP “Lass los” was released. With this song she and Gentleman competed in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2005 for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , where they achieved a total of 10 points and thus had to share 15th and last place with Sandy Mölling , who competed for Rhineland-Palatinate . Your CDs appear in the label Bush House Records .

Documentary film

At the beginning of February 2007 the documentary “Yes I Am” was released in some German cinemas, in which Mamadee is portrayed alongside Adé Bantu and D-Flame . The film shows the path taken by the Afro-German artists born in Germany and the circumstances with which they are and were confronted due to the color of their skin.
