The 1st Federal Vision Song Contest took place on February 12, 2005 in Oberhausen . It was the first nationwide music competition of this format.

Before the competition

The concept of the Bundesvision Song Contest was first presented in TV-total episode 657 on December 20, 2004. At the same time, Stefan Raab presented the preliminary line-up . The structure of the "BuViSCo" is very similar to that of the Eurovision Song Contest , but instead of starting for European countries, the artists started for the German federal states . Only songs with (at least partially) German-language text were allowed. In the same broadcast, Stefan Raab also announced that the victorious state would host the Bundesvision Song Contest 2006 .

From January 17, 2005, the participants and their countries were presented on TV total. A theme evening was organized for each performer for four weeks. In addition to a conversation with Raab and the presentation of the song, an election commercial for the candidate, a street survey on the country of the evening and a clip entitled 5 things you should definitely know about ... were shown.

Since it was not possible to find suitable representatives for all countries, some performers represented countries to which they had no or only a very indirect reference, which resulted in some criticism of the event concept. Klee come from North Rhine-Westphalia , but competed for Saarland (see table).

The broadcast

On February 12, 2005, all performers competed against each other in a live show in front of more than 10,000 spectators in the Oberhausen arena . The program was moderated by Stefan Raab together with Annette Frier and Oliver Pocher .

Before each contribution, a short film about the respective country was shown, which was always introduced with the words "Let’s come to what is definitely the most beautiful state in Germany" and which tried to seriously identify the representative characteristics of the country. Only the naming of famous sons of the country at the end of the report ended with a typical TV excerpt; as important personalities from Berlin z. B. Kurt Tucholsky , Marlene Dietrich and Desiree Nick named.

A special feature of the contest was the appearance of the German rapper Sido , who took the opportunity to perform and during his performance of Mama is proud removed his mask, with which he had protected his identity for several years.

poll

When awarding points, almost all federal states gave themselves the maximum number of twelve points, with the exception of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, which each gave ten. The last three placed received no points at all from other countries. The points were presented by celebrities via live broadcasts from the federal states. Among others, Ben , Thomas Anders , Hans Werner Olm and Christian Wulff were responsible for announcing the points.

particularities

15 of the 16 contributions - more than ever again - were able to place themselves in the German single charts, some also in Austria and Switzerland.
The single Emanuela by Fettes Brot is to date the only BSC contribution that has made it to the top of the Austrian single charts, and until 2015 it was the only contribution with gold certification outside of Germany (record set by Andreas Bouranis On other ways ). Until 2011, the single held the record as the "most successful entry in the German and Swiss single charts by placement"; They lost this record in both countries in 2012 to Xavas , who reached position two and three in the charts with the title “ Look no longer back” .

Audience ratings

The show was seen by an average of 3.23 million viewers (11% market share). In the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, 2.55 million viewers could be measured (21.2% market share).
