biography

Nick was born in West Berlin , where she grew up and went to school. In her early years she devoted herself to ballet . Between 1965 and 1975 Nick completed classical ballet training at the Berlin Dance Academy , became a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and later the State Opera in Munich . She also danced as a showgirl for two years in the Parisian Lido . From 1982 to 1985 she lived in Munich , studied in distance education at the Theological-Pedagogical Academy Berlin Catholic theology to become a teacher and taught for several years. She returned to the stage as a stage actress in Arthur Schnitzler's Reigen . She then went to London and worked as an interior designer for Colefax & Fowler. Due to the success in Arthur Schnitzler's Reigen, Désirée Nick completed an acting training at the Actors' Institute in London from 1984 to 1987 . After returning to Berlin, Nick managed to attract media interest as a provocative cabaret artist. In 1993 she began her current career with her first solo program. In 1995 she had her first film role in Neurosia von Rosa von Praunheim . The film was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at the Locarno Film Festival in the same year .

In May 2000, Nick published her biography Bestseller of a Diva - Out of print for years . At the beginning of 2004 she was sued by Anouschka Renzi because she felt vilified in Nick's stage show ("walking spare parts store"). The process ended in a settlement . Through media campaigns in which she portrayed herself as a shrill diva , and through her vicious quick-wittedness, Nick polarized, but also gained a large fan base. At the end of 2004 she took part in the second season of the RTL production Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! part, which she won on November 6, 2004 as the jungle queen by audience vote. Through their participation, Nick became known to an audience of millions and then wrote three bestsellers. Your book Eva go home! was the direct answer to The Eva Principle by Eva Herman and has been sold over 300,000 times.

Nick was in a relationship with Heinrich Prinz von Hannover for 17 years . Their son (* 1996) acquired British citizenship in 2017 and is now called His Royal Highness, Oscar Julius Henry Prince of Hanover . In 2009 she found a partner on the Sat.1 show Die Promi-Singles - Traumfrau sucht Mann , but separated from him shortly afterwards.

On August 14, 2015, she moved in as a candidate for Celebrity Big Brother (3rd season). She reached the semi-finals and left the house in sixth place.

In October 2019, she took on the capricious role of Princess Božena Guddenstein zu Clumetz in the Emmerich Kálmán operetta Gräfin Mariza , staged by Thomas Enzinger at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden . It was there that she had previously performed with the program Mutter Corsage - The Last Living Diseuse , an evening about Blandine Ebinger , wife and muse of Friedrich Hollaender . According to Wiesbadener Kurier "[she] declares herself the last diva and presents herself as a humorous all-purpose weapon."

In Eric Dean Hordes ' fantasy film Goblin - That's Real Troll , Nick played the Margravine Katharina von Baden . In mid-October 2019 it became known that the film "Under Control" promoted by Eva Habermann had been cut from the material from the Hordes film. Hordes said that Habermann and her partner Alexander König had "torn the film away from him by unfair means". According to Désirée Nick, Habermann offered her 500 euros so that she should sign documents to verify the exploitation rights to her work.

In Oskar Roehler's biopic Enfant Terrible about Rainer Werner Fassbinder , Désirée Nick took on the role of Barbara Valentin .

Since July 2020 Désirée Nick has had its own podcast called " Lose Luder - by invitation only ", which can be heard on the popular streaming services and is produced by the Berlin company Fandreams.
