Mama is impossible is a German comedy series of the MDR that started in 1997 . The place of the action is Meissen . It was produced by Provobis .

Victoria "Vicky" Voss is a successful crime novel and screenplay writer. Her “Old Henry”, the father of her divorced husband Dr. Edzard Voss, who is a dentist by profession. The family lives in Meissen on the banks of the Elbe 5. Vicky constantly interferes in the lives of her teenage daughters Caroline ("Caro") and Melanie ("Milli"), which often leads to conflicts.
The two daughters go to the Franziskaneum high school in Meissen. The family also has an uncle named Ludwig who lives in São Paulo. Uncle Ludwig and Henry Voss are siblings who don't get along very well. The family also includes dog Alfred.
The series also includes the Wawczineks, an elderly couple who live next door. The extremely simple-minded Gundula Wawczinek is characterized by extreme curiosity, while her husband Alfred spends most of his time in the garage, where he tinkers with his car "Balthasar" (a Volga M-21 ) and tries to ignore his wife's feelings.
In the third season, Konrad comes to the Voss family, who comes from a problem family and suffers from kleptomania . After he steals from Vicky and is caught by her, she decides to take him into her family as a foster child.
The program almost always ends with the family members present, usually to the mother, saying: "You are (again) impossible".
Characters
- Victoria "Vicky" Voss (season 1: Franziska Troegner , seasons 2–3: Angelika Milster ) is a divorced, successful crime writer who lives with her daughters and her father-in-law. Although she is passionate about her job, she is overwhelmed with the household due to her laziness and clumsiness and is also a very poor cook. She also has a fondness for sweets and other unhealthy foods, especially stracciatella ice cream, and is therefore a bit overweight, which she does not like to be approached about. First she drives a red Citroen 2CV , later a blue Suzuki Vitara .
- Caroline “Caro” Voss (episode 1–16: Anne-Sophie Briest , episode 23–26: Dörte Freundt ) is the older daughter. She shows the typical characteristics of a teenager and has a crush on pop music, especially Michael Jackson . She is a vegetarian .
- Melanie "Milli" Voss ( Marie-Luise Schramm ) is the younger daughter and is particularly noticeable for her cheeky, cheeky manner, through which she repeatedly clashes with her sister. Nevertheless, she is basically kind-hearted, and the relationship with her sister also shows that the two basically like each other despite their conflicts.
- Henry Voss ( Wolfgang Greese ), often called "Old Henry", is Victoria's father-in-law and gets on much better with his daughter-in-law than with his son. He is a calm, sensible, understanding person and also much more skillful in housekeeping than Vicky, which is why the family depends on him and chaos quickly breaks out without him.
- Edzard Voss ( Lutz Herkenrath ) is Victoria's ex-husband and Henry's son. He is a professional dentist and does not take good care of his family (in one episode he does not know which of his daughters' birthday is currently), which is why Victoria and Henry in particular have little sympathy for him. His daughters, on the other hand, get on well with him. In contrast to Milli, Caro wants him to move in with them again.
- Gundula Wawczinek ( Karin Gregorek ) is the neighbor of the Voss family, who is characterized by great curiosity and likes to spy on Victoria when she discovers something strange or suspicious.
- Alfred Wawczinek ( Eberhard Esche ) is Gundula's husband, who is less curious and mostly tries to avoid his pedantic wife. He also often seems a bit lethargic and dense, and usually doesn't really understand what's going on. The fact that he shares his first name with the name of the dog in the Voss family often causes confusion and misunderstandings on his part.

Broadcast and publication
The series was first broadcast on MDR from December 8, 1997 and was later repeated on the children's channel and in the first program . On August 14, 2013, the first season (episodes 1-13) was released on DVD.
