Wolfgang Greese

Wolfgang Greese (born March 8, 1926 in Lübz ; † May 2, 2001 in Berlin ) was a German actor.

Life

The mime with the distinctive nose was engaged for six seasons at the Berliner Volksbühne . In 1971 he switched to GDR television. Active in film and television since 1961, Greese has participated in over 200 productions in a wide variety of roles. In addition to lovable ones, he has also embodied unsympathetic characters. In the television film Dr. med. Summer II by Lothar Warneke (1970) and in the DEFA production Orpheus in der Unterwelt by Horst Bonnet (1974) - a film adaptation of the Jacques Offenbach operetta - Greese played the leading role. Other well-known productions in which he played were, among others, Spuk unterm Ferris wheel and various episodes of The Public Prosecutor Has the Word and Polizeiruf 110 . Shortly before his death, from 1997 to 1999, he had another famous role as father-in-law "Old" Henry on the family sitcom Mama is Impossible .

Greese was married to the actress Manja Göring for the third time .

Wolfgang Greese died on May 2nd, 2001 at the age of 75 after a long period of cancer.
