Benno makes stories is a two-part comedy on GDR television that was first broadcast at Easter 1982.

action

Since Benno's parents are heavily involved in their work and hardly have time to look after him, the Berlin boy longs for someone who has plenty of time for him and who takes care of his problems. During a train ride, he met the pensioner Oskar Schrader, who likes to cook for his life, collects watches, does magic tricks and lives in the middle of the countryside. During the holidays he is allowed to visit him with the approval of his parents. A real friendship develops between the two.

Benno and his buddy Mutz like to play pranks in the neighborhood: On the one hand there is the eccentric animal lover Irma Kalweit, with whom the self-righteous Oskar Schrader is in constant clinic. On the other side lives the raucous daredevil Ralf Klotz, whose lady visit becomes the victim of two nasty pranks that were actually intended for Irma Kalweit and Ralf Klotz.

But Benno and Oskar are not only a bit quarrelsome, but also helpful when they are needed. In the end, not only Oskar and Irma are reconciled, but Benno's parents also recognize that their boy did not lack educational rigor, but the necessary care. With a cheerful undertone, the two-parter paints a contemporary picture of the life of different generations in the GDR in the 1980s .
