Framework and basic concept

Season 1 to 17

Christian Wolff portrayed Martin Rombach in seasons 1–17.

The first story arc of the series is linked to the main role of the forester Martin Rombach . At that time it was about the family and everyday stories of a forester and his family. It has been shown that ecological farms in the forest , the life cycles can be kept in balance.

The starting point of the plot is the move of the widowed timber buyer Martin Rombach and his family from Augsburgto Küblach in the Bavarian Forest, where he takes up a position as a district forester and is later promoted to forestry officer. The family includes his children Andrea, Markus and Rica, his mother-in-law Herta and his mother Inge, who often visits - initially from Augsburg, where she owns a perfumery, and later from Lanzarote, where she lives with her second husband Justus Feininger. In Rica's teacher Jutta Marquart, Martin first finds a new partner. From the initial rapprochement between him and Silva Baroneß von Bernried, a long, close friendship developed. His superior forest director Leonhard and his predecessor Vinzenz Bieler, who later married Grandma Herta, also became close confidants of his.

In the further course of the action, Martin Rombach's turbulent life is characterized by constant changes. Changing partners and a growing family network are at his side: After he separated from Jutta, who then emigrated to Kenya, he married the vet Angelika Grassmann. With her he adopts Peter Bellinghaus, the son of a deceased forest worker, and has another son named Florian. After she died in a riding accident, Martin lived with his future third wife, the pharmacist Susanna Mangold. This marriage fails when Susanna moves to her hometown Berlin for professional reasonsreturns. Martin finds a new partner in the veterinarian Sophie von Haunstein.

Martin Rombach's children also bring changing partners into the family. Andrea marries the wildlife biologist Tobias Arnhoff and settles down as a veterinarian in Küblach after completing her studies. Her daughter Katharina comes from an affair with the balloonist Falko Wachsmuth. After Tobias has left Andrea and she dies in a forest fire, Martin and Susanna take Katharina in with them. Markus, who trained as a carpenter and later took over the Walzinger sawmill, married his seventh partner, the forester Lisa Carstens. But the marriage of the two fails. Anna Hansen becomes Markus' second wife and the mother of his son David. Rica follows in the footsteps of her stepmother and sister and also studies veterinary medicine. She found a partner in Falko Wachsmuth. Adopted son Peter studies horticulture, but then opens an organic pension on their parents' farm together with his wife, the doctor's assistant Melanie. After they have to give up this, they move to Regensburg together. But Peter leaves his wife and their son Manuel. He works as a cook at the "Ochsen" before moving back to them after a reconciliation.

In addition to the Rombach family, the series is supported by other pillars that continue to exist over the years through changing roles. Martin's best friends are Silva and Viktor Fabritius. After their marriage failed, Viktor stayed in Küblach and managed the castle of Silva's family, on which Herta and Vinzenz had the right to live for life. His later partners Beate Wellmann and Maria Claasen also belong to the Rombachs' circle of friends. There are also the forest workers and later community workers from Küblach: Franz Breitkreuz, Hermann Koller and Toni Lederer. Koller now lives in Canada and is replaced by Max Moser and later Schorsch Binder. He himself returns and again takes Lederer's place. In his role as forester, Martin is also in close contact with the sawmill owner and later mayor Walzinger. After his death, the lawyer Annegret Richter becomes the new mayor of Küblach. At the center of community life is the “Zum Ochsen” inn, which was initially run by Mr. Karger, then by his son Toni and later by his daughter Sibylle. In the course of the series, the Küblach forest farmers join in as a further pillar, who repeatedly confront Martin with problems and challenges. These include the Weißgerber family, Wastl Schlueter, Erwin Maurer, Hans and Ferdinand Sailer, Walter Brucks, Vitus Kreidtmayr, Max Berger, Hubert Gassner, Stefan Brenner, Laura Bergmeister and Moritz Maiberger. After Martin Rombach inherits the “Kumlumu” nature reserve in South Africa from his old friend Franz Staudinger , his time in Küblach ends. When he and Sophie take a look at the reserve, Rombach can put a stop to big game hunters. Florian and Katharina follow them to Africa, where the family decides together that Rombach will accept the inheritance and that they will live there in the future. This is how a long-cherished dream comes true for him, because he has always wanted a life in Africa.

Season 18 to 21

Hardy Krüger junior portrayed Stefan Leitner since season 18

After Martin Rombach has left Küblach, the focus of the action shifts away from the majority of the previous main and secondary characters towards the forester Stefan Leitner.

The starting point of the plot is the family of Stefan Leitner, a Canadian ranger and widower whose parents are emigrants and come from Küblach. After his studies and state examination, he followed his parents. Stefan and his wife Carol, who drowned in a boat accident, have a 15-year-old daughter named Jenny, with whom he travels to Küblach to sell his parents' house. This is how he learns about the vacant forester position, for which he has successfully applied. His father Wolfgang, meanwhile also widowed, and his daughter initially disagree with their return to Germany, but they dare to start over with him in the Bavarian Forest .

In Küblach, Stefan learns to be a doctorKnow Sonja, who has only recently lived there. The children Daniel and Lisa come from her marriage to Karsten Schwanthaler. Sonja and Stefan fall in love and soon the blended family lives together in Stefan's parents' house, which is now the "Forester's House Falkenau". After Sonja becomes pregnant, she and Stefan decide to get married. Only after the wedding does Sonja confess to Stefan that she cheated on him with Karsten and that he is not the birth father of little Lukas. The family breaks up because of this misstep, and Sonja leaves Küblach with her three children. After she was hit by a car and fatally injured on the way to her divorce lawyer, Daniel, Lisa and Lukas return to the forester's house. Later, Stefan met the vet Marie Stadler and found a new partner in her.

Stefan's father Wolfgang meets his childhood sweetheart Marianne Rainders again in Küblach. The love of the two rekindles and so they get married. Together with Marianne's brother Josef Neureuther, they live on the farm of Marianne and her deceased first husband, where they run a pension and not least support Stefan's turbulent family life.

In addition to the forester's family, the other supporting pillars of the concept also continue to exist. The three community workers Breitkreuz, Koller and Binder also work for Stefan. Julius Brandner has now taken over Mr. Leonhard's post and is at Stefan’s side in an advisory capacity. As a new forester, he initially has to struggle with the local forest farmers, who have great prejudices against him. Gradually, however, he was able to convince the Küblacher of his abilities and won their recognition. Markus and Anna Rombach were the only ones of the previous main characters to be included in the new story arc. His sawmill marks frequent points of contact between Markus and Stefan, which also creates a friendship between the two. And Anna becomes Küblach's new mayorafter Annegret Richter moved for family reasons. In this capacity she stands benevolently at Stefan’s side. The marriage of Markus and Anna falls apart. She falls in love with the entrepreneur Max Bachhofer, the illegitimate son of Marianne's late husband Franz, and moves in with him temporarily with her son David. But the relationship is short-lived.

At the end of this story arc, the future for Stefan and Marie in Küblach is uncertain. In the meantime, she worked as a veterinarian in a clinic on Tegernsee and gave up this position again so that she would not have to have a long-distance relationship with him. At the same time, the Küblach forestry department was closed, so that Stefan is now also unemployed. His daughter Jenny, in turn, leaves Küblach to spend a year with her boyfriend Jan in the USA.

Season 22 to 24

After Stefan Leitner lost his job as a forester in Küblach, the focus of events is on Störzing am Ammerseewhere he will work and live in the future. Küblach and its residents are no longer part of the plot. For various reasons, all other main characters will follow Stefan to Störzing during the 22nd season: Lisa and Lukas have to go with him as his children. Marie doesn't want to have a long-distance relationship and tries unsuccessfully to start a new life as a veterinarian. Marianne's farm is completely destroyed by a fire, whereupon Josef, Wolfgang and she seek refuge in the new forester's house. She no longer feels able to rebuild the farm, so the three of them find a new home in a former youth hostel in Störzing. Daniel initially lives at his place of study in Weihenstephan, but after dropping out of his studies and starting his training, he also moves to Störzing. Jenny spent a year with her boyfriend Jan in the USA and surprisingly returns to her family. Marie's sister Daniela and her riding stables will also remain in the series. It is explained that Störzing can be reached more easily from the riding stables through a new bypass road. This means that the characters can still visit each other regularly. The distance between Störzing and Küblach is still shown as so great that it is absolutely necessary for Stefan to move. After that, he continued to be in sporadic contact with Franz Breitkreuz, who was dismissed by his successor and retired early and is now helping out at Daniela's farm. Stefan offers him a job in Störzing so that Breitkreuz can start a new life there. The role of Franz Breitkreuz is not just the only supporting role, which was taken over into the new concept, but also the only remaining one that has been part of the series since the first season. Sina, Stefan's loyal hunting dog, is put to sleep because of cancer and the pain that goes with it, which hurts all family members.

Both go back to the Baltic Sea and stay there forever. When Florian got more and more problems at school, an intelligence test showed that he was gifted. He then had to switch to a boarding school for the gifted in Passau.

Season 13

The Bellinghaushof is about to go bankrupt and can no longer be saved. Peter and Melanie move to Regensburg . The farm is taken over by a hotel chain, which means that Susanna also has to move out and opens her practice at the forester's house.

Peter can't get by in Regensburg and returns to Küblach. After his divorce, Markus meets the hitchhiker Anna in Passau and immediately falls in love with her. Anna, a student of art history , is expecting a child from him soon after, which at first irritates Markus. Nevertheless, he takes Anna in. Beate is jealous of the vet Sophie von Haunstein, with whom Viktor spends a lot of time. An accident makes the couple realize their love anew and their affection grows stronger than ever.

Season 14

Susanna is drawn back to Berlin because of an interesting research offer. She leaves her husband and the two adored children behind to devote themselves to their careers. She never visits the forester's house again. Anna and Markus' son David is born. At his baptism, the Forsthaus clan is almost completely together again. The increasing difficulties after Susanna's departure cannot be overlooked: Katharina suffers from psychological problems and Florian starts smoking . There are also adversities with Markus. His young family is busy and the sawmill is on the verge of ruin. Martin can relax the situation.

Season 15

Martin and Susanna can no longer find a common denominator and divorce. On the other hand, Anna and Markus can make a happy announcement: They are getting married. Shortly afterwards there is friction with them because Anna works part-time as an archivist for the community and Markus was not involved in the decision.

Viktor also has relationship problems. The mayor Annegret Richter, his partner, spends less and less time with him since she no longer rides. The love of the two seems to perish. it is a broken appointment that brings the barrel to overflow and drives Viktor into the arms of his old friend Beate.

After the lease for her veterinary practice was not extended, Sophie von Haunstein is considering leaving Küblach. Martin wants to prevent this and offers her to settle in the abandoned premises of his divorced wife Susanna. A little later, Sophie accepts his offer. This has a lasting effect on the atmosphere in the forester's house, where Markus currently lives with his family. Sophie is more and more involved in the household and draws Anna's resentment, who feels questioned.

Regardless of this, Martin and Sophie are getting closer and closer, not least through their collaboration on a bird project. Inge and Herta are very pleased because they have long since noticed that the two of them are not completely indifferent to one another.

Season 16

The relationship between Martin and Sophie is getting closer and closer and a little later the vet is already spending the night in the forester's house. However, the question soon arises whether Martin can accept her great passion, horse riding. The situation comes to a head when Sophie falls in front of Martin's eyes. Although she was not injured, the memories of Angelika's death torment him and a big argument ensues.

After Anna decides to devote more time to Markus, she discovers that her husband has hired an extremely attractive accountant without her knowledge . This situation briefly causes discrepancies. And Markus has to face further inconveniences: After wood has disappeared in the forest for a long time, he is suspected of being the thief. As a result, he is able to expose the real culprit, but injures himself so badly that it is questionable whether he will ever be able to walk again. Anna has to take over the lead in the sawmill until Markus has recovered.

For Viktor the question arises whether he should start a relationship with the Lübeck artist Maria Claasen, whom he loves with all his heart.

Season 17

Markus has fully recovered from his serious accident and can take over the management of the sawmill again. Anna, meanwhile, listlessly returns to her workplace in the archive in the town hall and becomes - unnoticed by Markus - more and more unhappy about it. After Markus landed a major contract, he and Anna can buy their own house and leave the forester's house. Since Markus cannot do everything on his own, Anna gives up her unloved archivist post and helps him in the sawmill.

Grandma Herta falls down the stairs in the castle and breaks her leg. A misfortune also overtakes Peter: in the morning he returns from Regensburg to Küblach, exhausted, and comes off the road, where he sustains a slight head injury. He draws his conclusions from this mishap. He quits his job as cook in the ox and reconciles with Melanie in order to make a fresh start with her and their son in Regensburg. Meanwhile, Rica passes her final exam to become a vet.

Forest director Leonhard informs Martin that he will soon retire due to the forest reform. For the forester, too, pressing questions arise about the nature of his future activity. New difficulties arise for him when the influential father of one of his graduate students insists that Martin let the cheating of his pupils fall under the table, against which he resists. As a result, this guerrilla war takes on increasingly threatening proportions. Martin's old friend Franz Staudinger, who has been in South Africa for 15 yearslives, comes to visit. Martin's dream of Africa is revived, but for the time being he refuses an offer from Staudinger to manage his nature reserve. A short time later, the Rombachs learned of Franz Staudinger's death. Martin inherits his property in South Africa alone. Together with Sophie he flies to Kumlumu , where they meet Stephanie Staudinger and her fiancé Frank, who would like to have the inheritance themselves. He also makes an enemy with his neighbor Henning Pretorius, who organizes illegal big game hunts. This argument ends almost fatally for Martin, but he is rescued and can put the criminals down. When Florian and Katharina arrive on Kumlumu , the whole family decides to stay in Africa.

Season 18

This season starts a new chapter in the series and new characters come to the fore.
The widowed ranger Stefan Leitner actually only came to the Bavarian Forest with his daughter Jenny to sell his parents' house, which has now been seriously neglected. During his visit, he found out about the vacant forester position and applied without further ado. After he has actually been selected as Küblach's new forester by the responsible authorities, Stefan Leitner is leaving Canada for good and settling in his old home with Jenny and his father Wolfgang.

After a short time, Stefan Leitner falls in love with the doctor Sonja Schwanthaler, who also lives in Küblach with her two children Daniel and Lisa. Daniel is 16 and initially falls in love with Jenny. His sister Lisa is about eight years old. Over the course of the season, the love between Stefan and Sonja grows stronger, so that they move into the renovated Leitners house, which is also the forester's house. Jenny and Daniel soon end their relationship and after some friction try to live as "siblings" under one roof.

The chaotic Wolfgang Leitner, always in the mood for all kinds of jokes and pranks, initially lives in the forester's house. Soon after his arrival in Küblach, his life took a positive turn: He met his childhood sweetheart Marianne again and despite her initial rejection, he managed to win back her favor. So he quickly moved his residence to Marianne's pension. The rather lazy Wolfgang does not like to help, but makes himself useful in emergency situations. Although the character traits of the two could hardly have been more different, Marianne's brother Josef also gradually became friends with Wolfgang. Soon they worked together on an old scooter, acted as animal catchers or philosophized about life. When Marianne is seriously injured by a ruthless rider in the forest, Wolfgang realizes how much he is attached to her. And so he makes his Marianne a marriage proposal, which she accepts.

Stefan Leitner can convince the Küblacher step by step. He saves animals, solves a variety of different problems and advises forest farmers. Stefan Leitner is especially challenged after the tragic death of forest farmer Stefan Brenner, who dies while working in a windthrow. With all this, however, the new forester can rely on the support of the tried and tested forest workers, who have recently also had to take on activities as community workers.

Anna Rombach wins the mayoral election and from then on manages Küblach from the town hall, while her husband Markus continues to take care of the sawmill.

Season 19

Daniel is always inaccessible, grumpy and treats everyone rudely because his father's move to Greece makes himto accomplish. Wolfgang is far better off. The wedding with Marianne is imminent. For this occasion, he needs a new suit, which he borrows from the shop "to try on". From now on, the sinfully expensive piece is hidden from Marianne in the barn. On the day of the wedding, Wolfgang locks himself up and leaves everyone waiting at the registry office. He frees himself through the window and hitchhikes a small car in which a Saint Bernard is salivating on his suit. He arrives badly damaged at the registry office, where only Stefan is waiting. The rest of the wedding party has already dispersed. Marianne doesn't want to know anything more about Wolfgang, which is why he is forced to move in with his son again. Marianne processes the disappointment by burning her wedding dress. Wolfgang then forges the plan to win his beloved back by buying her a new dress. This approach ultimately leads to success and the two are romantically married in the open air.

Shortly thereafter, Wolfgang was bored in his existence as a husband and should therefore have a new maypoleprepare for the community. When work on the maypole began, Josef was there, despite a severe flu. But apparently he overestimated his strength: He collapses with shortness of breath. Since it cannot be clarified in the hospital what Josef is suffering from, he is discharged shortly afterwards. Wolfgang worries about his friend and he accuses Sonja of being responsible for Josef's poor condition through wrong treatment. When Marianne's brother collapses again while pranking the maypole after visiting Sonja's practice, Wolfgang sees his suspicions confirmed. Stefan and Sonja, however, suspect the cause of the collapses at the maypole and they actually find out that Josef has an allergic reaction to an ingredient in the paint.

The German-Canadian exchange project among the forest workers initiated by Stefan starts: Georg Binder is joined by the young and still inexperienced Tom Keller, with whom Jenny falls in love instantly. To her utter disappointment, however, the young man soon confesses to her that he is gay. Daniel is causing trouble again: He skips school and moves through Küblach with other teenagers. When he and his mates want to steal from the forest workers, Stefan and Sonja find out about the boy's activities and can bring him to his senses.

Stefan buys an engagement ring for Sonja and wants to propose to her. Before doing this, he tells Markus who is babbling in the presence of Anna. Since Stefan doesn't come to hold Sonja's hand in the evening, it is Anna who brings her friend the good news the next day. Nevertheless, the two lovers manage to make a marriage vows in a romantic setting. Shortly afterwards, Sonja can surprise Stefan for her part: She is pregnant. The happiness of love seems to find its way back into Josef's life: after Wolfgang placed a personal ad for him, Josef's ex-wife Gerlinde shows up and wants him back.

In Küblach there are infections with Q fever , which also affects Sonja. But she and the baby survive everything unscathed and Stefan asks again for Sonja's hand.

Season 20

Sonja and Stefan get married. Lukas is born. Stefan later learns that he is not Lukas' father, but Sonja's divorced husband Karsten. Markus is left by Anna, although he has fought for his marriage. She falls in love with Max Bachhofer and moves in with David. As it turns out, Bachhofer is an illegitimate son of the late Franz Rainders.

Season 21

An environmental scandal shakes Küblach, among other things there are toxins in drinking water. There is a lot to do for forester Stefan Leitner, which alleviates the pain of separation between Sonja and her children. Stefan also gets to know the veterinarian Marie Stadler and her younger sister, who have recently started running a horse farm. After some initial difficulties, Marie and Stefan are slowly getting closer.

Surprisingly, Daniel and Lisa stand in front of the door with Lukas one evening. Stefan's joy at seeing them again is quickly clouded by the news of Sonja's sudden death. Stefan applies for custody of Lisa, until she is recognized by the family court, some persuasion has to be done, especially since Stefan seems to be overwhelmed with the four children and Marianne is initially no longer available for childcare due to two strokes.

To make matters worse is the news that the Küblach forestry department is to be closed, something Max Bachhofer also has his share in, who increasingly sees Stefan as just someone who wants to destroy his business plans.

A lynx reintroduction project is leading Förster Leitner to the area around Tegernsee, where Marie Stadler has also accepted a job as a veterinarian. When Stefan was offered the management of the local forestry department, the offer didn't seem inconvenient for him.

Season 22

Stefan wants to accept the offer to take over the forestry department at Tegernsee and therefore resigns in Küblach. But since this offer is surprisingly withdrawn, Stefan is forced to look for a new position. He finds this in Störzing.

Season 23

The forest adventure center in Störzing, which Stefan is supposed to build, is about to be completed. The Leitner family has announced that there will be children because Stefan's daughter Jenny is pregnant.

Season 24

Wolfgang is in Canada, so Xaver helps out in the youth hostel. Marie's sister Daniela dies in a diving accident. Her husband Peter finds a new manager for the horse farm. Eva and Ronald get together. After a car accident, Stefan proposes to Marie (final scene of the series).

Locations

Bernried Castle , in reality Hofhegnenberg Castle

The exterior shots ( Küblach ) were initially shot in Isen in Upper Bavaria, where the Gasthof Ochsen is also located (former butcher's shop and Gasthof Anzenberger). From 1997 onwards the film was shot in Ortenburg in the district of Passau . The forester's house of the seasons 1–17 itself and its outside area are located in the Upper Bavarian forests south of Dietramszell . Immediately near the forester's house is the forest pond, which can be seen in many episodes as a lake. The Maria Elend church not far from here also served as a backdrop for the series in seasons 2–21. The Bernried Castle in the film is realHofhegnenberg Castle near Mering in Swabia. As a monastery, the Dietramszell monastery can often be seen from the outside , the interior shots of the monastery usually come from the Benediktbeuern monastery . Most of the filming for episode 11 of season 3 took place in Kenya . The 17th season was also shot in South Africa . From season 18, after international shoots near Calgary and Iceland, the new fictional location Störzing was introduced. Since then , the shooting has mainly taken place in the area around Lake Starnberg and Lake Ammersee , mainly inStarnberg , Iffeldorf and in Dießen filmed.

music

Composed the theme music for the Falkenau Forest House: Martin Böttcher (2002)

The title and closing music of the series comes from the German composer Martin Böttcher , who also composed the entire music for the first season of the series. The theme music was originally intended for the series Die Schwarzwaldklinik . But then the composer Hans Hammerschmid was hired. After it was first published on LP, the music was also released on CD in 1989.

The main theme of the series has been updated three times and brought in more modern, although this "update" was not transmitted to Martin Böttcher, but to Bernhard Zeller. Therefore, Böttcher has decided not to continue to be mentioned as the composer of the title melody in the credits. He had not been asked if he would approve of the editing. In the first eight seasons, the original version of the title melody could be heard in opening and closing credits. An updated recast has been used since the ninth season. With the introduction of the new forester Stefan Leitner in the 18th season, another new version was presented, which is only remotely reminiscent of the original by Martin Böttcherremind. A completely new theme music by Bernhard Zeller has been used since the 22nd season.

Trivia

  • The series was produced under expert advice in order to realistically portray everyday life in the forest. Shooting and breaking up of game is not shown. This was justified by the fact that children were watching. However, it was also idealized in many cases, for example when an injured fawn is nursed back to health by the family and then released, which in reality could not be practiced.
  • Michael Wolf, who plays Markus Rombach , is a successful producer as well as his career as an actor. Together with Michael Herbig , he produced the movie Der Schuh des Manitu . He mainly works as a lawyer.
  • Angelika's serial parents , Ingrid Capelle and Hans Quest , were also married in real life. As Trude and Max Grassmann , they can only be seen once at the wedding of Martin and Angelika and were not taken into account by the authors of the series at later family celebrations or the funeral of their own daughter.
  • Seasons 1–14 were filmed in an aspect ratio of 4: 3 , and the 16: 9 format has been used since the 15th season .
  • The first two seasons were shown on ZDF on Tuesdays and Thursdays (first season) and Tuesdays (second season) at 5:45 p.m., where the episodes were 50 to 52 minutes long. Moving the time slot to Friday evening at 7:25 p.m. was also accompanied by a reduction in transmission time to around 43 to 46 minutes. In order to ensure a consistent length for later repetitions, the episodes of the first two seasons were shortened to around 45 minutes each.
  • Five episodes of the first season were only released in the abridged version on DVD. The pay station Heimatkanal shows these episodes with the original running time, after a changeover to the 16: 9 format since November 2012 no longer in the original 4: 3 aspect ratio , but in a later cropped 16: 9.
  • There are two different versions of the episodes of the first seasons. In one version, the subsequent titles are shown in capital letters, in the other in normal spelling. In part, the title soft even slightly different ( Herta's secret / Hertha's secret , poison tracks / poison traces , I am so happy / "I am so happy" , The city plant / The city plant ). Furthermore, the credits are not always identical, that is, supporting actors who are named in one version are missing in the other. The role of Silva Baroneß von Bernried"Sylva" is incorrectly written in one version according to the credits . Most notably, Nora von Collande was only included in the opening credits of one version of the fifth season. So she remains anonymous in the other version for the entire fifth season. From the fifth season, both versions are no longer recognizable by the spelling of the subsequent titles, as they are shown in both capital letters.
  • In the credits of the episodes of the first four seasons, in addition to the names of the actors, the names of the main roles and often those of some important supporting roles are mentioned. The spelling of the name of the oldest Rombach son varies between "Markus" and "Marcus". Due to the common designation in press releases and, last but not least, a towel embroidered with “Markus”, visible in episodes 22 and 26, this variant is to be regarded as the correct spelling. The changeable spelling is probably associated with the previously mentioned curiosity of two different opening and closing versions of the episodes of the first seasons. This may be due to different versions for the broadcast on German and Austrian or Swiss television.
  • In episode 77, Jutta Speidel left the series. Less than a week later, ZDF showed the pilot of their new series All My Daughters . There she played Margot Sander , who initially worked as the housekeeper for judge Berthold Sanwaldt . The two meet his friend Vinzenz ( Walter Buschhoff ) in town with two young women in their arms.
  • Seven years after Paul Hubschmid left the series (the Baron von Bernried embodied by him died), his adopted daughter Anouschka Renzi made her first appearance as Beate Wellmann .
  • Inge Meysel appears as a guest star in the anniversary episode 100 ( surprises ) . As Mrs. Mehring , she finds an injured stork in the forest.
  • Katharina Köhntopp was no longer involved in the shooting of the eleventh season . In the episode Fire in the Forest , Andrea could only be seen in two scenes, for which unused material from the tenth season was used. The scene in which Melanie tells her that Katharina has disappeared is clearly an alternative shot of the scene from the episode Lupus is called the Wolf , where Tobias visits Andrea for the same reason while he is working. In the other scenes of the episode Fire in the Forest , Andrea has a double that could only be seen from behind or from the side.
  • Patrick Wolff , the son of Christian Wolff , appeared in episodes 64, 85, 97, 113, 129, 220 and 276 in various guest roles. In four episodes he appeared as Matthias Schnitzler and also played Frank van den Heever , Rombach's final opponent in his last episode Decision in the Savannah .
  • Seasons 1 to 16 were also broadcast on television from Austria and Switzerland. For this reason, some episodes (episodes 1 to 5 of the first season, episodes 145 to 152 of the twelfth season and the complete seasons five and nine) were not broadcast for the first time on ZDF , but on ORF 2 .
  • The last episode with Christian Wolff in the leading role of the forester was broadcast in the form of a feature film on December 29, 2006. After the ZDF wanted to produce a larger number of episodes per season than before, he decided to leave the series for health reasons. His departure also marked a turning point, as the introduction of a new forester and his family was accompanied by a revision of the series, with which a large part of the regular cast was released from the series. Bruni Löbel no longer wanted to play in the series because “she has nothing to do with the new main actors personally”. She died on September 27, 2006 just before the 17th season began broadcasting. In addition, the roles of Nicole Schmid, Gisela Uhlen, Walter Buschhoff, Norbert Gastell, Nikolai Bury, Volkert Kraeft, Sascha and Dennis Hornig, Cheyenne and Valentina Pahde, Diana Körner, Anja Schüte and Sabine Bach no longer continued. An explanation for why the characters no longer appear has largely remained open. The actors emphasize that they parted ways with the broadcaster. Gisela Uhlen and Walter Buschhoff died on January 16, 2007 and December 7, 2010, respectively. Only Michael Wolf and Julia Grimpe could still be seen sporadically as supporting roles from the 18th season onwards. With the relocation of series events from that they have separated amicably with the broadcaster. Gisela Uhlen and Walter Buschhoff died on January 16, 2007 and December 7, 2010, respectively. Only Michael Wolf and Julia Grimpe could still be seen sporadically as supporting roles from the 18th season onwards. Only Michael Wolf and Julia Grimpe could still be seen sporadically as supporting roles from the 18th season onwards. With the relocation of series events fromKüblach after Störzing am Ammersee in the 22nd season, she and the other remaining Küblach characters (with the exception of Hans Stadlbauer as Franz Breitkreuz ) were released from the series.
  • Martin Rombach's hat was not exchanged from the first to the 17th season. On the advice of Markus Rombach , Stefan Leitner will initially take over the off-road vehicle from Förster Rombach in the 18th season. His father Wolfgang damaged it so badly in a failed felling operation on the Leitner s farm that a new car had to be purchased. This is very similar to its predecessor.
  • The local pub in Küblach is called Zum Ochsen and is a traditional Bavarian restaurant. The interior views were shot in a restaurant in Oberbiberg , where scenes for other series and films have also been shot. Behind the facade of the exterior view in Ortenburg there is actually a Greek restaurant. In the course of the series, both the inside and outside view of the restaurant changed several times.
  • Three members of the Fitz family could be seen in the series: Gerd Fitz played the forest farmer Walter Brucks in seasons 6 to 15 , his son Michael Fitz was seen in episode 188 as Harald "Harry" Baumann . Gerd Fitz's sister Veronika Fitz has been Marianne Rainders as part of the main cast of the series since episode 223.
  • In the course of the series, 17 different opening credits were broadcast, three of them as film titles without scenes:
    • Episodes 1 to 21: Christian Wolff - Katharina Köhntopp - Michael Wolf - Nicole Schmid - Bruni Löbel
    • Episodes 22 to 27: Christian Wolff - Anja Kruse - Katharina Köhntopp - Michael Wolf - Nicole Schmid - Bruni Löbel

Parodies

The forester's house Falkenau is sometimes parodied in other productions:

During the third season of the Switch - TV mercilessly parodied series, the series was taken on several times. In the third episode, a sketch called Jagd is about Martin ( Michael Müller ) and Florian ( Bernhard Hoëcker ) enjoying the fresh air in the forest and wanting to protect him and his animals. At the same time they make the way to the garbage can and the mailbox with Martin's jeep. Martin later finds it difficult to explain when Florian asks why he had to shoot a fawn and its mother, a robin and three hares. The sixth episode begins with a program announcement for the series by Petra Nadolnywho cannot see what the teleprompter shows. After several unsuccessful attempts (“Frostschloss Falkenau”, “Rostschutz Plattenbau”, “Kotzt Schulz? Old pig!”) She gives up. The seventh episode is about evil city people . From the high seat, Martin and Florian watch an exhibitionist who frightens a walker (Petra Nadolny), a man who dumps toxic waste into the forest and another man ( Peter Nottmeier), which urinates on the "Canadian dwarf beech oak". Martin explains to Florian that nature cannot help itself and that you therefore have to take on the punishment of people. He shows Florian how to shoot them. Then the two leave the wounded man to the “big red wood ants”. The eighth episode is about the "forest workers" Gustl ( Michael Kessler ) and Vinzenz (Peter Nottmeier), whom Martin described as "lazy as hell" and "saudoof" according to Florian. When the forest workers react angrily, Martin drives away and leaves Florian alone with them, although he actually has to do his homework so that he doesn't become just “such a stupid forest worker”.

In 2011, several four-minute clips were produced under the title ZDF-Mashups , in which some selected ZDF productions were newly edited and dubbed. The individual episodes were published on the ZDF website and broadcast on the ZDFneo night program . Some scenes from the ninth season of Forsthaus Falkenau were processed into Forsthaus Falkengau . Forester Martin (Christian Wolff) searches in vain for animals in his territory. His father (Norbert Gastell) explains to him that the animals in the Falkenau forest house have long been well-paid extras who only come to the shoot. The other animals would consider themselves superstars and now they areDieter Bohlen rohren. Unfortunately, Martin promised the federal government a drive hunt. As a thank you for this, Chancellor Angie Merkel has announced that she will take on a guest role in the series. Environment Minister Norbert Röttgen and Martin find the compromise that nuclear waste should be stored in his area for 30,000 years. With a shopping voucher for the health food store and a ticket, Martin can also satisfy the "hippies" (including Nikolai Bury, Lorenz Hartung , Nicole Kersten , Daniel Muck , Nicole Schmid, Carol Seyboth ) who transport the Castordon't want to let it happen at first. And with the money for the storage, new, stately deer are to be bought.

The episodes were numbered consecutively when they were released on DVD, although those responsible made a mistake: The pilot film was not counted and episodes 28/29 were counted as a long episode. As a result, the anniversary episode 100 was published as the 98th episode and the numbering of all other episodes differs from the actual counting method.

Five episodes of the first season were only released in abridged form for unknown reasons. These are the consequences of lovesickness (shortened by about 7 minutes), the location of the wood grouse (about 4 minutes), nocturnal escape (about 6 minutes), a scary night (about 6 minutes) and smooth transition (about 7 minutes).

Since the fourth season, the episodes or their respective credits have been published in an edited version: In the fourth season, the credits run faster than in the original TV version and are not accompanied by the actual - slightly modified - ending music, but with the melody of the opening credits. In some episodes you can hear at the beginning of the credits that an audio cut has been made. From the fifth season onwards, the original closing music was left, which can only be heard halfway due to the double speed of the closing credits.

While the publication of the regular seasons of the series has been gradually completed since 2006, the three special episodes have not yet been taken into account. When the series Die Schwarzwaldklinik was released, however, a variety of bonus material was used, including the joint special episode of both series ( The biggest festival of the year - Christmas with our television families from 1991).
