Hans Eduard Herbert von Borsody [ ˈboʁʒodi ] (born September 20, 1929 in Vienna , † November 4, 2013 in Kiel , Germany ) was an Austrian - German actor .

Life

Hans von Borsody came from a family of artists. His father Eduard von Borsody was a film director , his mother Maria a violinist and his uncle Julius von Borsody Austria's first film architect. Due to his father's occupation, he came to Berlin at the age of three , where he and his family took German citizenship . During the Second World War they returned to Vienna because of the increased bombing raids on Berlin .

After graduating from high school and studying photography , Borsody first worked for a year at the graphic teaching and research institute in Vienna, before studying acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar from 1950 to 1952 . After that he became a popular actor in the homeland films of the 1950s, but has also played in the theater again and again since then. His favorite role was Cyrano von Bergerac , which Borsody played in Vienna and Andernach.

From 1960 he was seen increasingly in international productions. One of his best-known roles was that of the detective Cliff Dexter in the ZDF crime series of the same name from 1966 to 1968. In the 1970s, Hans von Borsody was rarely seen in movies; Its cast in Richard Attenborough's historic war film The Bridge of Arnhem (1977) is outstanding . From 1980 he took on frequent guest roles in relevant television series such as The Happy Family , Forsthaus Falkenau , Klinik unter Palmen and Der Bulle von Tölz .

As a voice actor , he lent his voice to Daniel Gélin (Carthage in flames) and Doug Sheehan in the soap opera Knots Landing .

Private

From 1955 to 1962 Hans von Borsody was married to Rosemarie Fendel . Their daughter is the actress Suzanne von Borsody . The actress Cosima von Borsody comes from the marriage with Alwy Becker . In his third marriage he was married to the actress Heide Keller for ten years . In September 1997 he married Karin, his last wife, a hairdresser, and moved to Kiel for her. Before that, he had lived in Bavaria for thirty years.
