action

At the Gasthof Zur Post Metzgerei in the small Bavarian town of Oberkreuzberg there is emptiness when Irene Lenz, who has just finished the hotel management school, appears. She was hired as the new waitress by host Martin Oberhauser. The attractive young woman decides to turn the inn inside out and invites the villagers to come to the inn for the evening, with the first ten guests getting their food for free. In the evening the inn is full. In addition to numerous men from the village, guests include maid Annemarie and servant Sepp from the Sonntalerhof as well as Mayor Weinberger, who takes special care of his daughter Christl shortly before the mayoral election. She has affairs with three young men in the village, but is said to be celibate until the election. The evening is a success for the inn. The women, however, are outraged by their drunken husbands and Martin is displeased with how much Irene flirts with the guests.

The new farmer Maximilian Sonntaler, who turns out to be an ignorant city dweller, appears at the Sonntalerhof. He tries clumsily to seduce Annemarie, but is turned down by her. Later he flirts with Steffi and Fricki, only to end up spending the night with Josefin, Sepp's girlfriend. The careworn shopkeeper Kriszenzia, who is only vaguely ensnared by Xaver, is meanwhile planning an uprising against the inn with the women of the city. But when the women storm the inn armed with pitchforks and other things, the men have already escaped to safety. Maximilian also has to realize that the women in the village do not allow themselves to be played with, so he is pursued by Josefin, Steffi and Fricki and escapes to Annemarie. However, she rejects his marriage proposal.

The local women stay away from a dance evening that Irene is planning in the inn, but enough women from the surrounding villages come to dance. When the men wanted to return to their homes in the evening, their wives locked them out. So there are some misunderstandings when opening the window due to new rooms. The women finally gather in Xaver's new sauna, where men from neighboring towns are also invited. The husbands from Oberkreuzberg are outraged, but the women make it clear that they spend their evening just as dissolute as the men at the inn. The women, however, are bothered by the fact that the leader Kriszenzia has stayed away from the sauna. It turns out that the strict woman spent the night with Xaver. Both marry shortly afterwards, with Kriszenzia getting a visit from her illegitimate son after the party, which causes a stir. Meanwhile, more couples have found each other: Irene and Martin, Maximilian and Annemarie, Sepp and Josefin.
