Hans Albin

Hans Albin (born July 27, 1905 in Berlin , † September 5, 1988 in Munich ) was a German actor , screenwriter , film director and film producer .

Life

He started out as a racing car driver, but then trained as a tenor and as an actor at the Rudi Meinhardt Theater. From 1931 he was active as a young comedian under Heinz Hilpert on the Berlin stages. He soon found his way to film and worked, among other things, in several strips with the young Heinz Rühmann .

Albin also filmed himself and brought sporting events such as car races to theaters. He received an award at the Biennale for a documentary about the Herber / Baier ice skating couple . Albin worked as an assistant director for feature films from the end of the 1930s , including in the Rühmann film Five Million Are Looking for an Heir . In 1941 he made a short film revue with sketches by Karl Valentin and Weiß Ferdl .

After the end of the war Albin lived in Munich. In the 50s and 60s he directed several films, in which he often co-wrote the script himself and was also involved with his own production company, the Hans Albin-Film. Most of his films were hearty comedies set in Upper Bavaria.
