occupation

Three white birches is a German hit and homeland film by Hans Albin from 1961. Both the chimney sweeper Hannes Kaminski ( Helmuth Schneider ) and the painter Fritz Mausch ( Gunnar Möller ) feel about the landlord's daughter Angela Förchinger, played by Erika Remberg attracted.

action

The young Fritz Mausch, known as Mauschner, has lived in a small Alpine village for ten years, but as a painter from Munich is still viewed with suspicion as exotic and “modern”. Fritz loves young Angela, but her father Loisl Flörchinger, as chairman of the Heimatverein, is strictly against Angela's relationship with Fritz. Angela doesn't think much of Fritz's marriage plans either, she isn't even in love with Fritz. Rather, she shows interest in the young journeyman chimney sweep Hannes Kaminski, who had to leave his home where he was already a master chimney sweep. Angela's affection for Kaminski is particularly annoying for young Zilly, as she is in love with Kaminski herself. Zilly's father, a master baker Bauer, is in constant dispute with Flörchinger. Flörchinger used to be with Bauer's wife Mali. Bauer, on the other hand, lived in Paris for a while and now turns strictly to the modern. He suffers from the old-fashioned traditions that Flörchinger in particular enforces in the village. Daughter Zilly is also modern and learned to paint from Fritz.

Angela and Kaminski go on a hike together to a high alpine pasture, where they are surprised by a thunderstorm, so that they return to the village late. They meet more and more often in secret, Flörchinger is against the relationship. Fritz and Zilly also try to break the couple apart. Fritz organizes a studio party where hits are played and numerous Schwabing friends appear. He invites Kaminski, who is kissed by Zilly - promptly when Angela appears at the party. She rushes away disappointed, but soon reconciles with Kaminski. Together they visit Stein Castle, where Fritz and Zilly and old Flörchinger also appear. Flörchinger finally agrees to a relationship between Angela and Kaminski and announces the couple's engagement at the next village festival. Fritz and Zilly admit defeat and in the end become a couple themselves.
