Helmuth Schneider (born December 18, 1920 in Munich , Germany , † March 17, 1972 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) was a German actor .

Life

Helmuth Schneider studied medicine in Munich in 1938 and attended the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin from 1941 to 1943 . In 1942 he made his debut in the comedy Sophienlund . He had to end his engagement at the Deutsches Theater in the subject of the youthful hero for his war deployment. He was wounded in France.

In 1946 he left Germany and spent six years in South and North America, where he played theater in Argentina, Brazil and the USA. He also appeared in several films under the pseudonym Alexander Carlos . In 1950 Schneider received the male lead in the German version of the adventure film Die Göttin vom Rio Beni .

He returned to Germany and played at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen . Now he took on leading roles several times in the popular Heimatfilms at the time , where he was repeatedly seen as a likeable hunter, forester or estate manager. In the late 1950s he was used in several adventure films, including the Karl May film The Lion of Babylon (1959), where he played Kara Ben Nemsi .

In the 1960s Schneider settled in Rome and was almost only used in international film . There he repeatedly portrayed unsympathetic Nazi officers.

Private and death

Schneider was married and had a son. The actor died as a pedestrian in a traffic accident in Rio de Janeiro in 1972 .
