Commissioner Freytag was a television series produced for the Hessischer Rundfunk's evening program . It was the first German crime series with a detective who appeared in every episode - after the blue light from the German television network . Directed by Michael Braun and Hans Stumpf .
In 39 cases, all of which were written by Bruno Hampel , the detective Werner Freytag ( Konrad Georg ) investigates a wide variety of cases and is responsible for everything: robbery, theft, extortion, fraud and murder. At his side is Peters ( Willy Krüger ), an older gentleman who humbly serves his boss. Freytag is married and has a daughter named Franziska, who is played by Michaela May in some episodes . In the individual episodes, other detectives and two different police doctors appear.
Guest roles included Willy Semmelrogge , Rolf Schimpf , Sigurd Fitzek , Werner Lieven , Peter Thom , Reinhard Glemnitz , Hans Pössenbacher , Adolf Ziegler , Kerstin de Ahna , Rosemarie Fendel and many Bavarian folk actors such as Veronika Fitz , Willy Schultes and Willy Harlander .
The three seasons were shot in Munich, in the first season the episodes were around 21 minutes long, from episode 14 onwards the episodes lasted around 25 minutes.

Radio plays
In 1967/68, Bayerischer Rundfunk produced a nine-part radio play series based on episodes from the television series. Benno Sterzenbach played the role of the inspector, while Horst Sachtleben , who had also taken over the editing of the scripts , played his assistant Peters . Walter Netzsch directed the film .
