Willy Schultes
Wilhelm Schultes (born January 28, 1920 in Munich ; † November 19, 2005 there ) was a German folk actor .
Life
Wilhelm Schultes, who was born in Munich- Sendling , grew up in the Valleystraße in the Munich district of Sendling and was discovered at the age of 10 by the wife of the director of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation for radio. In 1937 he played his first film role in the film Der Katzensteg . This was followed by guest appearances in Heimatfilms of the 1950s and finally the comedy nobility , which helped him achieve a rapid rise. Here he was often seen as a community servant or as a member of the community council.
The actor starred in countless TV series, including Munich Stories , Royal Bavarian District Court , Der Kommissar and The Strange Methods of Franz Josef Wanninger , as well as in comedies, sex films and in 1966 in an episode of the street sweeper Stahlnetz .
Schultes is often referred to as "Bavaria's best unknown folk actor ". Although he was seen in over 100 films and around 500 TV roles, he never achieved such fame as his colleagues Gustl Bayrhammer , Fritz Straßner or Erni Singerl . Nevertheless, he was able to create a lasting recognition effect with the audience through small supporting roles in which he embodied the characters in his hearty, grumpy way . For his services, the actor was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1993 and the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1995.
In January 2005 Willy Schultes celebrated his 85th birthday and his 75th stage anniversary. On November 19th of that year he died after a long and serious illness. He was buried in the Munich forest cemetery. The public wasn't informed until a week later. He last lived in Vingerstraße in the Kurparksiedlung / Großhadern district of Munich .
