The strange methods of Franz Josef Wanninger is a television series of the ARD . The series was produced by Bavaria Film on behalf of West German advertising television for the early evening program of ARD, where the 52 25-minute episodes from 1965 to 1970 were broadcast for the first time, up to episode 27 in black and white, from episode 28 from January 13 to December 28, 1970 in color.

Under the title The immortal methods of Franz Josef Wanninger , the series was continued from 1978 to 1982 in another 60 episodes.

content

The later retired criminal inspector Wanninger is the man for "unsolvable" cases for the Munich criminal investigation department . He deliberately appears with an all too simple disposition and all too Bavarian manners. He can covertly investigate difficult situations undetected and use unorthodox means to find and convict the right perpetrators. The loyal assistant Fröschl is always helpful to him .

His opponent is always the chief criminal inspector Steiner . Steiner comes from Northern Germany. He does not like the fact that his Bavarian rival interferes in his cases and is still extremely successful. But Wanninger can count on the support of Detective Director Mitterer .

Even when Mitterer retires for health reasons (actor Fritz Straßner was seriously ill), Franz Josef Wanninger's strange methods repeatedly ensure that the stories end happily under his successor, Kettwig .

Directors

The directors of the series were Michael Braun , Günter Gräwert , Theo Mezger , Imo Moszkowicz , Peter Weck , Günther Richardt, Hans Dieter Schwarze and Theo van Alst.
