Maxl Graf
Maxl Graf , actually Maximilian Reinhold Friedrich Graf (born September 25, 1933 in Munich ; † March 18, 1996 ibid) was a German folk actor and singer in the field of popular music . In his roles he embodied the charming rascal with a heart.
Life
Maxl Graf grew up as the son of a railroad worker in Munich's Westend. As a teenager he wanted to be a train driver and later an actor. In 1947 he was chosen as the first “Funkkind” from 750 competitors. Together with Christa Berndl , of the same age , he was allowed to play in the radio play series Christa and Maxl on Radio Munich . He did not pass the entrance exam to the Falckenberg Drama School . But he took private lessons with Franz Fröhlich, among others, and then went his way as an actor. His first appearances were in musicals and singing games . In 1963 he gave the Munich Carnival Prince.
actor
Maxl Graf's big breakthrough came in 1961 with his first television role in the comedy Die Drei Eisbären im Komödienstadel des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Graf was then able to take part in numerous productions in this series with well-known folk actors such as Gustl Bayrhammer and Max Grießer , which made him known to a larger audience.
In 1965 he was given the role of the smart detective assistant Fröschl in the series The Strange Methods of Franz Josef Wanninger at the side of Beppo Brem and Fritz Straßner . From 1969 to 1971 he was repeatedly seen in various roles - mostly as a defendant or a witness - in the series Royal Bavarian District Court .
In addition to his television productions, Maxl Graf took part in countless radio programs. His career seemed to have ended when he suffered a broken neck in a serious car accident in 1975 . However, contrary to expectations, there was no paralysis, and a few months later he was back on stage. One of his last roles was that of a gendarme in the SAT.1 doctor series Der Bergdoktor .
Singer
In the 1970s he moderated the series Funny Musicians on ZDF together with Ruth Kappelsberger , Lolita and Carolin Reiber . He recorded a variety of songs on vinyl. As a singer he mainly devoted himself to folk music. One of his showpieces was the window cleaner Kare . In 1989 he took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music together with Sepp Manchechner . Her title Barely look i auf'd Uhr is scho Herbst achieved a remarkable 7th place in the German preliminary decision.
Sickness and death
In the 1990s, Maxl Graf became incurably ill with liver cancer and then withdrew from the public. Graf was married to Olga Georgine and had a son (Maximilian) and a daughter (Christine). He died in 1996 at the age of 62 in the Großhadern Clinic in Munich and is buried in the Westfriedhof in Munich (grave no. 200-A-14a / b).
