Josef Filser

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Josef Filser is a literary figure invented by Ludwig Thoma from the beginning of the 20th century .

The figure

The economist (farmer) Josef Filser, born on September 16, 1856 in the fictional Mingharting, has been a member of the Bavarian state parliament of the German Center Party and a trained butcher since 1899 . He is emphatically Catholic-conservative, Bavarian patriot and loyal to the king. Filser writes his letters about current political events the way he speaks when he tries to speak High German.

Josef Filser, who initially only wrote letters, was further developed into a stage role by Ludwig Thoma . In later television and film productions, Filser increasingly became a rascal original.

“I am Jozef Filser, royal deputy in the Barlamend.
I was born on December 16, 1856 in Mingharding, Bosd there, as the son of Silfester and Ursuhla Filser. I am an oegonohm by my profession and a barlamendarrian elector through the folklore of the people. I attended school in Mingharting and also learned the Mäzgerhandwerg for my Follkomenheid until I took over the elderly property and still own it. Thanks to Gozeid, I took the military oath in Minken in the 2nd regament and without punishment and am married to Maria Billmoser from Sinzing, which means that you can now find out about my résumé. As a man of the folk I did not know that I would settle down for government, but because Bfarrer discovered it. I have been going to the Barlamend since 1899 and it is my endeavor to pay off. I am at the Zendrum and must note that I always keep my bardi swine three. "

history

The model for the figure Josef Filser was possibly the Ruhpolding mayor and member of the state parliament Georg Eisenberger , who was a popular Bavarian politician until Hitler came to power. Eisenberger had already served Ludwig Thoma as a model for a minor character in the 1906 novel Andreas Vöst . While Eisenberger was a member of the Bavarian Farmers' Union , Filser belonged to the center after Thoma .

original version

The Bavarian writer Ludwig Thoma published the individual letters of Josef Filser in loose succession from 1907 to 1912 in the satirical weekly magazine Simplicissimus . The caricaturist Eduard Thöny contributed a drawing to accompany the events.
