Jan Groth

Jan Groth (born January 15, 1921 in Bielitz , † July 17, 1993 ) was a Polish actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, he was drafted into military service. In 1945 he attended the State Drama School in Cracow and Gdansk . In the playing year 1945/46 he was already a member of the ensemble of the Polish State Theater in Wroclaw .

From 1946 to 1956 he played at the Polish State Theater in Gdansk. There he embodied in Polish-language performances Wurm in Kabale und Liebe , Tybald in Romeo and Juliet , Basilio in The Great Day or Figaro's Wedding , Hortensio in The Taming of the Shrew and Bleaching Cheek in What you want .

In 1957 he went to Austria and played at the Landestheater Klagenfurt in 1958/59 . In 1960 he moved to Vienna , where he initially worked for cellar stages. From 1961 to 1967 he performed at the Theater an der Wien (in the musical Heimweh nach St. Pauli , next to Freddy Quinn ), at the Raimund-Theater (in Lady Windermeres Fächer ) and at the Burgtheater (in Camus ' Caligula and Anouilhs Becket or die Ehre Of God ).

In 1967 Groth moved to the Federal Republic of Germany and settled in Grünwald . In the following years he concentrated on his work for film and television. His grave is in the Grünwald cemetery.
