Jürgen Scheller (born August 21, 1922 in Potsdam , † March 31, 1996 in Bad Aibling ) was a German cabaret artist , actor and voice actor .

Life

Growing up in Potsdam, Jürgen Scheller was drafted into military service after graduating from high school . In 1944 he was taken as a submarine officer in Canadian captivity , from which he was released in 1946.

Scheller initially worked briefly as an actor, then began to study law , which he broke off after four semesters to return to acting. In 1949 he passed the acting examination and then went to Munich , where he played in the cabaret " Alter Simpl ".

In 1950 he went to Radio Bremen , then to Northwest German Broadcasting in Hamburg . In addition, he continued to play cabaret, for example at the Munich theaters “ Die Schildbürger ” and “ Der Stachel ” as well as at the Hamburg cabaret “ Die Mausefalle ”. In 1959 Jürgen Scheller became the first male program announcer on German television . He had his breakthrough in cabaret with the " Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft ", to whose ensemble he belonged from 1961 to 1973 and which received the 1963 Schwabing Art Prize . Scheller also starred on television in the family series " Till, the boy next door ", which was a great success when it was first broadcast in 1967/68. From 1971 to 1974 he presented the youth program Räuber und Gendarm on ZDF .

In addition, Scheller was also committed to improving the economic and social situation of his profession. In 1966 he was one of the co-founders of the “Stage-Film-Television” specialist group in the German Employees' Union (DAG), which in 1994 led to the establishment of the “Art and Media” professional group within the DAG. Until his death he was its honorary chairman.

In 1974 Jürgen Scheller founded the Paul-Klinger-Künstlerozialwerk e. V. ( in honor of Paul Klinger ), a non-profit association and a solidarity community of artists and non-artists, which informs artists about the possibilities of social security and helps artists in need. Until his death in 1996 Jürgen Scheller was President of the Paul-Klinger-Künstlerozialwerk e. V. Hellmuth Matiasek was his successor.

From Scheller's first marriage to Gertraud Scheller, b. Hauer comes from his son Oliver Scheller (* 1951). From 1957 until his death, Scheller was married to the actress Trude Haefelin . On March 31, 1996, he died of a Bad Aibling cancer . Scheller found his final resting place in the Perlach cemetery in the Ramersdorf-Perlach district of Munich .
