content

The Cologne accountant Kuno Hopfen is a lovable, kind hearted person who does not want anyone harm. For the intelligence service he is the ideal because completely unsuspicious person to use him for a secret mission - of course without his knowledge. And so one day you paint a top secret formula on the back of the anesthetized person. When Kuno and his family set off on a trip to Greece with this valuable information , which he allegedly won in a competition, agents from all over the world suddenly become active. A sensual, well-proportioned blonde named Tanja ensnares him with a woman's weapons on site.

Kuno travels to Rhodes with the agents on his heels. On the one hand you want to copy the important formula from your very best, on the other hand you have your hands full that Kuno does not use the beach holiday for what it was made for: to go into the water and bathe and swim: because the secret ink , with which the formula was written on his stately bottom, is not seawater-proof ...

Remarks

The bearer of the secret was a typical depreciation film of those years, promoted by state legislation , which was financed through investments by investors with which they hoped to be able to save taxes in this way. The majority of these films - including The Chinese Wonder , Mimosas Want To Bloom , Lady Dracula and Women's Ward - were accordingly on the one hand high-profile and expensive (although rarely high-quality) produced, but on the other hand they regularly turned out to be a veritable box office flop. Due to the sometimes very poor quality of these films despite well-known actors (from Heinz Rühmann to Horst Buchholz and Stephen Boyd to Theo Lingen and Senta Berger ) and experienced directors (such as Wolfgang Liebeneiner and Rolf Thiele ), there were regularly great difficulties in finding one for these productions Find rental. While The Secret Bearer and Mimosa Want To Bloom came to the cinemas relatively quickly after the end of the shooting, the premiere dates of other depreciation productions were delayed considerably: The Chinese Miracle and Women's Station (both shot in 1975) were only premiered in 1977, Lady Dracula (also from 1975) came not even in theaters until 1978. Secret bearer producer Hans Pflüger was particularly active in the production of depreciation films.

The carrier of the secret premiered on December 18, 1975.

Walter Tjaden was in charge of production, Peter Rothe created the film structures. With the novelist Heinz G. Konsalik (screenplay) and the Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis (film music), two prominent personalities could be won for this little-shown and little-known film.

criticism

The lexicon of the international film found mild words: "Not a great success in the genre of comedies, but reasonably passable fun."

In Film-Lexikon.de it says: "Franz Josef Gottlieb's comedy is not only a lot of fun, it also has big names."
