String quartet is a television grotesque by SDR based on a model by Szőke Szakáll . It served as the opening program of the Munich laughing and shooting society New Year's Eve 1962.

action

To keep a musical business partner happy, Director Schwarz, an antiquated factory owner, intends to hold a house music evening in his honor . In order to be able to make a name for itself with the company's own musicians, HR manager Krümmer was commissioned to put together a string quartet from among the employees . Although there is a rather poor level of joy in making music in the company, Krümmer is able to use the personnel file to identify four people from the company who at the time indicated playing a string instrument as a special ability . Little by little , in (borrowed) tails and equipped with violin , cello or viola cases, the employees with the special musical talent trickle into Director Schwarz's music salon. Gradually it turns out that none of them have mastered a string instrument. Rather, they gave in to pressure from the HR manager, but had come up with an excuse to be indisposed shortly before the planned appearance.

Four supposed "musicians" are now faced with the difficult task of somehow pulling themselves out of the affair, which results in turbulent entanglements.
