Ulrich Beiger
Ulrich Beiger (born August 26, 1918 in Munich ; † September 18, 1996 there ) was a German actor and director .
theatre
After graduating from high school, Beiger began studying newspaper and theater studies in Munich. There, the renowned theater director Otto Falckenberg discovered him in the theater seminar of Prof. Arthur Kutscher , who brought the young student to the Münchner Kammerspiele as an assistant director . In 1938 Beiger got his first stage engagement as an actor there. Until the forced closure of the German theaters in 1944, he was part of the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele. Other theater stations were the Bavarian State Theater in Munich and the Hebbel Theater in Berlin . In the latter, he mainly worked as a stage director. He also played on many touring stages, as a cabaret artist on cabaret stages and gave operetta guest performances. Since 1950 he has also worked as an acting teacher at the Zerboni Drama School.
Movie and TV
In 1942 he made his feature film debut alongside Erik Ode in the comedy Kleine Residenz . In a cinema career spanning more than 50 years, Beiger played in films of the most varied genres - in music films ( Im Weißen Rößl ), Heimatfilms ( Die Försterchristel ), dramas ( El Hakim ), literary adaptations ( Ludwig Ganghofer's Der Schäfer vom Trutzberg ), Hans Heinz König's adaptation of the Molière 's The Imaginary Sick , comedies ( Manöverball ), thrillers ( Escape route St. Pauli - major alarm for the Davidswache ), war films ( Broken Chains with Steve McQueen ), but also shallower productions (such as The Incredible Adventures of Guru Jakob with Zachi Noy and Schoolgirl Report 9 ). He was also familiar to the audience of the Edgar Wallace films through his impersonation of dodgy and sly characters (inter alia in The Frog with the Mask and The Gang of Terror ). He had his last film roles in comedies with Thomas Gottschalk : Zärtliche Chaoten (1987) and Trabbi goes to Hollywood (1991).
Beiger has also been a much-seen guest in television productions since 1955. He played in Durbridge - street sweeper Melissa , in Axel Eggebrechts teleplay The Putsch (in the role of the later Field Marshal Walter von Reichenau ), in Bernhard Sinkel miniseries Confessions of Felix Krull by Thomas Mann and rows and did guest appearances on numerous television series such as On the trail of the perpetrator , crime scene , the commissioner , Derrick and the old man . His Colonel Snyder in the series Percy Stuart , who supported the title hero (played by Claus Wilcke ) as a benevolent member of the Excentric Club , was also popular.
Radio and synchronization
Beiger also worked as a spokesperson for numerous radio play productions, including playing the character of the gangster "Topper" in the popular crime series Dickie Dick Dickens and , my name is Cox ! , Klein Dorritt ( BR 1960) after Charles Dickens and as Inspector Lognon in Maigret and the unknown (BR 1961) after Georges Simenon . As a voice actor he lent his voice to Maurizio Arena ( The Puppets ).
Private
Ulrich Beiger was married to the actress Hannelore Schützler. This marriage resulted in two children. He spent the last years of his life with his wife in Gauting, Bavaria . He died on September 18, 1996 at the age of 78 in Munich . His grave is in Herrsching am Ammersee .
