content

The high school student Trixie would like to become an actress. Since the time to graduate from high school is taking too long for her, she is doing everything possible to get out of school as quickly as possible. After she has cemented the keyhole of the teacher's room and the teaching staff has to be freed by the fire department, the third expulsion follows. But the longed-for acting career with theater director Klobaster has to wait again. Trixie is given by her strict father to the care of her uncle Theobald, head of studies in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. But his supposedly strict sister, Aunt Adele, in whose school boarding Trixie is housed, proves to be an excellent source of ideas for new student pranks.

After a series of other jokes, Uncle Theobald sends Trixie to tutoring at the "Institute for Special Education" with Dr. Klaus Höllriegel. The attractive educator obviously makes an impression on Trixie and theater director Klobaster meanwhile has serious financial problems. Will the stubborn student come to her senses after all?

History of origin

prehistory

The film series Die Lümmel von der Erste Bank , launched in 1968, triggered a whole wave of similar films in addition to the seven real episodes. In 1970, four real and unofficial "Lümmel" and "Pauker" films had reached their peak within a year. Even if the audience numbers that year no longer reached the level of previous films, the genre remained a lucrative business. The Constantin Film Distribution also announced for the year 1971 two such comedies. In addition to twenty Minis and the Pauker (later Twenty Girls and the Pauker: Today the Penne is upside down ) this was the sixth part of the real “Lümmel” series from tomorrow onwards ( school will be canceled later in the morning ). Competing distributors were not planning any "Pauker" films for 1971.

Pre-production and script

The producer Heinz Willeg stood for twenty girls and the timpani: Today the Penne Kopf , as the film should ultimately be called, is available to the tried and tested team around the "Lümmel" director Werner Jacobs . It was also possible to hire some actors who were already familiar with the film series, including Rudolf Schündler , Balduin Baas and Jutta Speidel . The script came from Barbara Anders and Manfred Barthel (pseudonym: Michael Haller), the managing director of Constantin-Film at the time.

production

The shooting took place in November and December 1970 in West Berlin and Rothenburg ob der Tauber . The film architect in charge was Peter Rothe .

Film music

The original film music, including the title hit sung by Heidi & Rosi and the Nymphenburg Children's Choir , Today is the Penne upside down , was composed by Erwin Halletz . The title song was released as a single on the Resono label.

In addition, pop singer Manuela appeared in the film with the songs ABC and Wenn es wird Nacht in Harlem , the German cover version of the hit When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge . At the time, both titles were available on singles from the Telefunken label.

reception

The FSK released the film on February 12, 1971, from six years of age. The world premiere took place on February 25th. At around the same time, director Werner Jacobs was already shooting the real “Lümmel” sequel for producer Franz Seitz. Tomorrow, school will be canceled , which should start in the cinema at the end of May.

Reviews

"Consumer film from the German school series, more massive in the pranks and pedagogically even more questionable than its predecessor."

"Typical drama film with many German stars."
