action

As they were engaged to herding animals when they were children, Caterine and Pierre, owners of the small Parisian restaurant “The Sleeping Piglet”, decide to go to the wedding. At the registry office , Caterine is announced that she is already married - to Baron Hubert von Löwenherz. Confused, Caterine and Pierre go to the baron's estate to shed light on, even though they actually have to prepare for a television show in their restaurant.

There is already panic at Ravenberg Castle. Castle mistress Appollonia has lost her entire fortune in horse racing. In reality, she was tricked by servant Gustave, who recommended the slowest horses to her, but kept her stake, which was always lost, saving her for her own hotel. Only Lucie believes that he wants to open this with the simple-minded Lucie. Caterine appears and learns that Hubert von Löwenherz was caught by a marriage fraud some time ago. With Caterine's stolen papers she had consented to the marriage to Hubert, so that Caterine is now Hubert's wife on the paper. Hubert, in turn, actually has an affair with his secretary Karin. A divorce from Caterine is out of the question, however, as the penniless family speculates on the inheritance from Uncle Eduard, who, however, regards divorce as a valid reason for disinheritance. Caterine and Hubert are now forced to mime the happy couple, with Pierre being passed off as Caterine's brother.

Uncle Eduard appears and wants to stay the Lionheart for a few days until the big family day. Eduard and Caterine get on very well and Caterine can convince him that it would be much better to give the millions of dollars saved to relatives before his death. In this way he experiences the joy of others in money and also knows that he is liked for his own sake and that nobody is waiting for his death. Eduard makes sense and he decides to distribute his fortune among the relatives on family day. There are minor incidents. Caterine falls in love with Hubert, Pierre with Lucie and Appollonia receives a betting tip from Pierre that lets her win a horse race for the first time. Gustave would now have to organize a fortune within a very short time.

Due to a misunderstanding, Appollonia believes on Family Day that Caterine Eduard revealed the entire hoax surrounding the marriage and that Eduard disinherited the entire family. She sends Caterine out of the house, but Hubert brings her back because he loves her. The handover of the property is sealed at the large banquet. Caterine now thinks that Hubert only brought her back so that he could get Edward's money and flees to Paris with Pierre. The entire party follows both of them, with Gustave stealing the precious family diamond and carrying it with him.

In Paris, preparations for the television broadcast are in full swing. The Löwenherz family follows Caterine's appearance. When Bill Haley & his Comets perform, the café turns into a dance house. Soon the first furnishings break. When Gustave accidentally loses the diamond, a chase begins on the thief, who is finally caught. There is a big fight in which the entire facility breaks. In the chaos, Pierre and Lucie finally find themselves and Caterine and Hubert also fall into each other's arms at the end.
