action

Carla “Charley” Werner, driving instructor at the Most driving school, has had enough: Her male learner drivers are constantly grabbing the leg. She quits furiously when her boss tries to kick her out because of her complaints. At home, her alternative boyfriend causes displeasure with her landlady because he is decorating the fresh wallpaper with his paintings while sitting on the chandelier. When the chandelier falls to the floor, Carla is given notice without notice. She goes to her friend Lilo Fred Dersen, a call girl . She wants to travel to Bermuda for three weeks and leaves Carla her apartment and her customers for this time. If someone gets too pushy, Carla can get rid of the gentleman quickly: All she has to do is throw a plate in the garbage disposal. This is the signal for the caretaker to call the apartment in five minutes and impersonate Uncle Jonathan. Lilo then always pretends that her uncle will appear shortly and gets rid of the suitors. Jonathan actually exists and he is also a real uncle of Lilo, who, as an illegitimate child, is the black sheep of the family and is deliberately hushed up. Jonathan, on the other hand, is just about to cross the sea to see the sanatorium of Dr. To cure Alfred Krusius. His strict wife Cornelia, who has forbidden him to smoke and drink, stays behind because she quickly becomes seasick. But when she finds a letter from Lilo to Jonathan in her husband's affairs, which leads her to believe that Lilo is his lover, she goes ashore to confront the rival.

Cornelia calls her nephew Boy Deisen, who works as a pilot, and reports about Lilo. Boy sees Lilo and Carla saying goodbye at the airport. He thinks Carla is Lilo. In the days that followed, she had enough to do with keeping Lilo's admirers at a distance. The caretaker is eagerly playing Uncle Jonathan, while Cornelia first looks for her husband in town. She reaches the sanatorium, but is there by Dr. Krusius rejected. Wives would prevent the men from healing, which is why they are prohibited from entering the sanatorium. The sanatorium is actually a replica of a boatman's club in which the fur seals learn to swear and drink again and in which they can indirectly take revenge on their wives by throwing fruit and eggs at their portraits on the wall. Cornelia sees her last chance to talk to Lilo herself. It ends up with Carla, who Cornelia thinks is her new cleaning lady. Cornelia plays along with the game. She accidentally throws garbage into the garbage disposal, whereupon the caretaker calls a short time later and pretends to be Uncle Jonathan in front of Carla. Cornelia now sees her greatest fears come true and Boy, who visited Carla, is also outraged. He secretly follows Carla to her driving school because her boss has hired her again. He sneaks into the driving school car and reproaches the perplexed Carla. When he calls her his uncle's lover, she slaps him and he causes an accident. Although he learns when the police take the personal details that the supposed Lilo is really Carla, Carla pretends that Lilo is her nickname. Meanwhile, Cornelia disguises herself as a seaman and is able to smuggle herself into the sanatorium. She confronts her husband and confronts him with her knowledge of Lilo. When Jonathan admits to know Lilo, Cornelia announces that they are getting a divorce. Jonathan stays behind in despair and now wants to find Lilo, who should clear everything up.

Lilo actually returned home earlier than expected. On her trip she met the middle-class Egon, whom she plans to marry shortly. She gives a farewell party for all her admirers and Carla is also invited. When Egon suddenly appears, Carla takes on the role of the supposed hostess. Little by little, more guests arrive: Boy appears and thinks Carla is a call girl. Jonathan arrives and reports everything that has happened to Lilo. And finally Cornelia arrives, still disguised as a sailor, arrested by the police and now has to prove that she is actually a woman. In the end everything clears up. Boy learns that Lilo is not Carla - he knows from Carla's best friend and colleague Helga that Carla is not a call girl. Both become a couple. Lilo explains to Jonathan the trick with the garbage disposal and the phone call and Jonathan and Cornelia are relieved, especially since a further accidental activation of the garbage disposal proves: The phone rings and the landlord is on the line as Uncle Jonathan.

For the film service , Charley's uncle was a “provincial slapstick”, while Cinema described the film as “only bearable in a beer mood”. Even the evangelical film observer doesn't think much of the film: “Clothes film that wants to entertain simple minds in a cheap way, but makes it all too easy in terms of script and direction that goes beyond the bearable. Boredom. "
