Ingo Insterburg (2012)

Ingo Insterburg , actually Ingo Wetzker (born April 6, 1934 in Insterburg , East Prussia ; † October 27, 2018 in Berlin ), was a German music - cabaret artist , comedian , singer , multi-instrumentalist , writer , actor , composer , painter , draftsman and hobbyist .

Life

Born in East Prussia, he fled his homeland with his family and grew up in Bernburg (Saale) , which belonged to the Soviet occupation zone from 1945 and to the GDR from 1949 . At the Oberschule Bernburg (today High School Carolinum Bernburg ) he earned his Abitur , then he moved to West Berlin in 1953 and studied art education there from 1954 to 1959 at the University of Fine Arts . In 1959 he accompanied Klaus Kinski as Guitar-Ingo in his Brecht Ballads and recorded the EP Guitar-Ingo as solo guitarist . Together with Karl Dall , Jürgen Barz and Peter Ehlebracht , he founded the comedian group Insterburg & Co. in 1967 , which existed in this composition until 1979. One of his best-known songs of this time was Ich liebte ein Mädchen, in which Insterburg sang mostly unproductive attempts at love in various districts of Berlin, in German cities and then in states and regions of the world until they finally lead him to Mars . Until 1993 he toured with different line-ups under the old band name. In 1994 Insterburg dissolved the group; henceforth he appeared as a soloist. From 2012 he formed the duo “Insterburg & Black” with Lothar “Black” Lechleiter .

Insterburg starred in four films and wrote several books. He built many of his instruments himself. These include numerous of their own, often bizarre inventions, such as instruments from kitchen appliances such as a saxophone from a sewage hose.

He was a passionate marathon runner until he was 70 . He was also an honorary member of the German Vegetarian Association .

Insterburg lived in Berlin as a single since he separated from his wife in 1964 after four years of marriage. He died on October 27, 2018 of complications from colon cancer .

Ingo Insterburg found his final resting place in the Dahlem forest cemetery (grave no. 010/434).
