action

Danilo, the nephew of the champagne king André Napoleon Renard, is supposed to take care of the company's branch in Paris . But Danilo prefers to spend his time and his uncle's money on the dancer Valencienne and her cabaret Maxim . Camillo, the very jealous husband of Valencienne, doesn't like the young bon vivant's interest in his wife at all.

In order to move the Playboy to a more solid way of life, the serious uncle hatches a clever plan. He fakes a wedding with his secretary Hanna and shortly thereafter stages his death during the honeymoon in the South Pacific . His “widow” and sole heiress then travels to Paris and turns off the money tap for the easy-going Danilo.

Since Danilo is suddenly without money, he has to look for work for the first time in his life. But whenever he has found a job, Hanna makes sure that he quickly loses that position. Despite all the difficulties, the good core emerges with Danilo and slowly he begins to fall in love with Hanna, although she is now wasting his uncle's money senselessly. Hanna, in turn, falls in love with Danilo.

When Danilo finds out by chance that his uncle is not dead and that he never married Hanna, he sets a trap for both of them. In Paris he has the uncle who has reappeared, together with Hanna, arrested by false police officers as a con man . Shortly after the "arrest", Danilo clears everything up and announces his upcoming wedding with Hanna.
