Heidi is an Austrian film from 1965. It was directed by Werner Jacobs . The plot is based on the novel of the same name by Johanna Spyri .

The Heidi film from 1965 is a color remake of the black and white film from 1952.
The script and locations are almost identical, but completely different actors were used.
The film from 1965 has been modernized a bit: instead of a steam locomotive, an electric locomotive can be seen and cars instead of horse-drawn carriages.
For the author Richard Schweizer it was the last film. He died at his own hand that same year.
