Heidi returns home (English original title: Heidi ) is a German-American film adaptation of the novel Heidi by Johanna Spyri from 1968 .
action
The film adaptation essentially takes over the plot of the novel, but various characters have been changed. In this version, Heidi is not only Klara's friend, but also her cousin. Also, Klara is portrayed as a spoiled snob, and the circumstances of her first steps without a wheelchair are different. While Peter the goat destroys her wheelchair in the novel, she is intentionally left alone in the film so that she learns to walk with gentle pressure. Fräulein Rottenmeier is always friendly, and Mr. Sessemann (who is called "Mr. Sesemann" in the novel) and she become lovers. Deviating from the book, Grandfather Alm-Öhi is a talented organ player who is too sick to play after Adelheid's death, but at the end of the film finds enough courage to find his way back to his playing.
Reviews
“Elaborate in terms of equipment, with beautiful landscape shots from the Swiss mountains. Undemanding entertainment in the style of German homeland films. "
“A film 'free' based on Johanna Spyri, which has many made-up plot elements. Unfortunately, on the whole it lacks originality and technical quality, so that it is only of limited use as a useful children's film. "
Meaning as "Heidi Game"
Heidi returns home was first broadcast on November 17, 1968 by NBC . The NBC planned at 16:30 EST the AFL -Footballspiel the Oakland Raiders against the New York Jets broadcast and Heidi returns home at 19:00 emit. According to the TV regulations at the time, on the west coast (to which Oakland belonged), the game was over until Heidi returns home ; on the east coast (including New York), on the other hand, there was a contractual obligation, at 7 p.m. Heidi returns home to show. Due to a large number of game delays, the game was not over at 7:00 p.m.: one minute before the end, the jets were leading 32:29 and had just kicked off . According to the rules at that time, the game broadcast on the east coast was canceled, so that only half the nation noticed that the Raiders won 43:32 after two last-minute touchdowns . In an attempt to limit the damage, the NBC faded in a ticker during the film with the result “Oakland Raiders defeat New York Jets 43:32” - just as Klara is taking her first steps. The public reaction was so devastating that it resulted in sports broadcasts in the United States ending airing before the next broadcast began. The game went down in sports history as the "Heidi Game" or "Heidi Bowl".
"Unfortunately I missed the film, but I heard it was great."
"My tombstone will read, 'She made a great moment in football'."
