John Moulder-Brown (born June 3, 1953 in London , England ) is a British actor .

life and career

John Moulder-Brown was born the son of a major and came to his first film roles at around five years old, which were initially small, but grew over time. In 1964 he got one of the leading roles in the children's series Attention: Bissiger Hund and in 1968 he was seen as Goat Peter in Heidi returns home at the side of Maximilian Schell and Michael Redgrave .

Moulder-Brown experienced his most successful period as a film actor in the early 1970s, when he mainly appeared in boyish, emotionally intense roles. He was given the male lead role of a young lover in Maximilian Schell's literary film adaptation First Love, based on the novella by Ivan Turgenew , which earned an Oscar nomination but received little attention at the box office. However, through First Love , the director Jerzy Skolimowski became aware of Moulder-Brown and engaged him for his sensational scandalous film Deep End . In this, Moulder-Brown embodies a 15-year-old teenager who falls in love with an adult, engaged woman with fatal consequences in the swimming pool. In 1972 he played the hero role in the hammer horror film Circus der Vampire and was seen in a supporting role in Luchino Visconti's film epic Ludwig II as Otto von Bayern going insane .

In the 1970s and 1980s, Moulder-Brown played more theater, while he appeared in less-noticed international films and various television productions - including adaptations of Shakespeare's As You Like It and George Eliot's The Mill on the Raft . In 1982, he embodied the title role of the charming and attractive impostor in the German miniseries Confessions of the impostor Felix Krull, based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mann . Since the late 1980s, Moulder-Brown has only appeared sporadically in front of the camera, most recently in 2010 in the historical film Young Alexander the Great , in which he played his father Philip of Macedonia . In 1997 Moulder-Brown founded the Academy of Creative Training drama school in Brighton , which still exists there today.
