The Bill is a British police series that aired on Independent Television (ITV) from October 16, 1984 to August 31, 2010. The series was not broadcast in German-speaking countries. On RTL, however, there was a weekly German adaptation under the title Die Wache and on ZDF in 2009 you could see a crossover between The Bill and SOKO Leipzig under the title Entführung in London .
history
The Bill emerged from a television film produced in 1983 that showed the daily work of a patrol officer. A year later one began with the production of the series, whereby Geoff McQueen produced it under the name Old Bill first. It was later finally renamed The Bill . Over the years many high profile actors such as Hugh Laurie , Alex Kingston and John Hannah have made guest appearances, and actors such as Keira Knightley and James McAvoy made their breakthroughs on the show. The last episode aired on August 31, 2010, which ITV justified with the drop in audience ratings. In 2002 The Bill had around seven million viewers per episode, in 2010 it was only around three and a half million.
