Alex Kingston
Alex Kingston (born March 11, 1963 in Epsom , Surrey ; actually Alexandra Elizabeth Kingston ) is a British actress .
Life
Alexandra Kingston was born on March 11, 1963 as the daughter of Anthony Kingston and his German wife Margarethe, b. Renneisen, born in Epsom , Surrey . Her uncle is the German actor Walter Renneisen .
Alex Kingston is best known for portraying the Dr. Elizabeth Corday in the US hospital series Emergency Room , which she played from 1997 to 2004. Kingston initially stated that she had been fired because of her age. However, she later withdrew this statement. In 2009 she returned to her role in two guest appearances.
She has played the role of River Song in the British science fiction series Doctor Who since 2008 .
In their first marriage from 1993 to October 1997, Kingston was married to British actor Ralph Fiennes . On December 29, 1998 she married Florian Haertel , a German journalist. Their daughter was born on March 28, 2001 and played Alex's series daughter in an episode of Emergency Room in season 8. In 2010 she separated from her second husband. On July 18, 2015, she married the TV producer Jonathan Stamp in Rome.
She speaks fluent German.
