action

Episode 1: Winter

The first episode starts around Christmas and there is a winter festival. Rory visits her mother and Luke, who have been together for nine years and live together in Stars Hollow. Her boyfriend Paul, with whom she has had a relationship for two years, also turns up surprisingly. But both she and Lorelai and Luke keep forgetting about him, and so Rory always forgets to break up with him. After a successful article in The New Yorker, she tries to gain a foothold as a freelance journalist and, due to her frequent travels, gives up her apartment in New York City and stores her things with friends and relatives. Lorelai currently runs the Dragonfly Inn with Michel, who is now openly gay, after Sookie left her for a break over a year ago. On the occasion of the visit, Emily, Lorelai and Rory have a meal together.

Four months after Richard's death, Emily was still deeply mourned for him and had hardly spoken a word to her since an argument with Lorelai at the funeral, at which Lorelai could not recount any fond memories of her father. In this argument it was also mentioned that Lorelai and Luke have no more children, although Luke would have wanted some. Since Lorelai is now too old at 48, despite Luke's unease, she turns to the fertility clinic in Paris, which is supposed to find a surrogate mother for them. Meanwhile, Rory begins working on a book in London with the eccentric Naomi Shropshire. She also continues her affair there with Logan Huntzberger, with whom she always stays when she is in town. Paris' later intrusiveness is increasingly uncomfortable for Luke, so that he and Lorelai decide against a surrogate mother and thus further children. Lorelai also pays her mother a concerned visit, during which she clears her house almost completely, and advises her to seek help. Despite an initial refusal, she finally decides to see a psychologist, is very enthusiastic and asks Lorelai to accompany her to the next session.

Episode 2: Spring

In the second episode there is a culinary festival in Stars Hollow with delicacies from all over the world. During the sessions with the therapist, tensions between Lorelai and Emily come to light. Emily later reveals that Richard left Luke some sum to expand his business, which doesn't improve the situation. Lorelai also fears that Michel will soon be leaving the hotel as he is getting bored and the hotel cannot be enlarged due to several factors. Meanwhile, Rory has to work with Naomi Shropshire in London, which turns out to be very difficult. She also quarrels with the affair with Logan, as he has a fiancée in Paris. Rory and Paris visit their former school, Chilton, for an alumni reunion. Paris, stressed by the upcoming divorce with Doyle, reacts very emotionally to meeting Tristan DuGrey.

Rory, however, inspires Director Hanlin Charleston with her way of speaking, so that he offers her a job as a teacher, worried about her current unemployment. Ashamed, however, Rory refuses and finally asks Logan that his father put in a good word for her at the Condé Nast newspaper. The conversation is not very successful, however, after Naomi fires her, she decides to write the rather mediocre interesting article about standing in line in New York for Condé Nast. Since Lorelai is overwhelmed with the situation with Emily, she accompanies her daughter. In New York City, Rory then has a one-night stand and is very disappointed in herself. Lorelai encourages her to take a job with the SandeeSays platform, but when Rory is canceled, she moves back to Stars Hollow without a job. The relationship between Luke and Lorelai is in turmoil, since Luke has found out that Emily no longer goes to the therapy sessions and Lorelai continues them alone. She had kept it from him, though.

Episode 3: Summer

In the third episode, the outdoor swimming season and a musical take place in Stars Hollow. Rory, who is now temporarily back in Stars Hollow, is very dissatisfied with the situation, and her affair with Logan is also coming to an end now that his fiancée has moved in with him. When the editor of the Stars Hollow Gazette resigns and the newspaper is about to shut down, she volunteers to take the post. However, this task does not really challenge them. When she meets Jess, he suggests that she write a book about herself and her mother. After initial doubts, Rory is enthusiastic about the idea and begins to structure the manuscript. Lorelai, meanwhile, has to cope with Michel's planned departure from the hotel and takes a position on the advisory committee of the musical by Stars Hollow. But while Lorelai finds the presentation very bad, the rest of the group is enthusiastic, which makes them doubt something about themselves.

Meanwhile, Emily wants to have Richard's tombstone renewed and asks Lorelai and Rory to be present at the unveiling. Then Rory tells Lorelai about the idea of her book, but Lorelai is not enthusiastic because she is afraid of being a bad and incompetent mother with the intimate details of her private life. After the two diverge in the dispute and Lorelai fights with Luke about their concealed individual therapy sessions, she decides to take a break and based on the book Wild go hiking.

Episode 4: Fall

Lorelai wants to start her hike and asks herself what makes her unsatisfied in her life. Meanwhile, Luke fears that Lorelai is planning to leave him. After saying goodbye to Logan on the phone, Rory is surprised by him, Finn, Colin and Robert in Stars Hollow. In a life and death brigade action, they first walk through Stars Hollow and then visit a bar. Logan offers her the key to a house in Maine, where she can work on her book undisturbed. After a last night together in New Hampshire, Rory returns the key and says goodbye to her friends for good. Lorelai is not allowed to pass the hiking trail due to her permit, which has suddenly disappeared and by chance comes across a clearing in the mountains. From there she calls her mother and tells her an anecdote in which Richard gave her the most beautiful birthday she has ever had. After this emotional statement, mother and daughter reconcile and Lorelai travels back. Emily is meanwhile in Nantucket and begins to be interested in a whale museum. Meanwhile, in the empty Gilmore house in Hartford, Rory begins writing the book at Richard's desk. When Lorelai returns to Stars Hollow, Luke, convinced that she wants to leave him, begins to confess his love to her and explains that he is more than happy with her life. Lorelai did not intend to leave him, but announced that they would be married in a few days.

After the engagement, Lorelai and Rory are reconciled as well, who show her mother the first three chapters of her book with the promise that she will only continue writing if Lorelai agrees. Meanwhile, Emily decides to turn her back on the wrong nature of her women's association and her old, disaffected life, sell the house in Hartford and move to Nantucket. There she begins to work in the whale museum. Lorelai asks her beforehand to use the money for Luke's expansion to purchase a building to expand the Dragonfly Inn. So she has the opportunity to keep Michel. Sookie also comes back to the hotel for the wedding and surprises Lorelai with numerous, very personal wedding cakes. Meanwhile, Rory visits her father Christopher and asks him how he feels about Lorelai raising her alone. He replies that Lorelai and Rory's relationship was so close from birth that no one fit in between them. Lorelai eventually allows Rory to write her book Gilmore Girls , which she happily tells Jess. Although he denies his feelings for Rory to Luke, they become clear a short time later. One night before the planned wedding, Lorelai and Luke go out and get married in the city pavilion only in the presence of Rory, Lane and Michel. In the final scene, Rory and Lorelai are on the steps of the pavilion talking. In the meantime Rory gets a message from Paul, who breaks up with her what she had always forgotten to do herself. The last words of the episode are: "Mom", "Yeah", "I'm pregnant" (German: "Mom", "Yes", "I'm pregnant" ). However, the child's father remains unknown.

Minor characters

Many old and some new characters appear in the four episodes, and you are informed about their current situation. Paris lives with her two children in New York City, divorces Doyle and runs a fertility clinic. Logan lives and works in London, where he will soon marry Odette, which has been determined by his family. Rory's best friend Lane still lives in Stars Hollow with her husband Zack and twins Steve and Kwan. Her mother Mrs. Kim apparently leads a Christian choir and lives with her husband, Lane's father (who is briefly seen here for the first time). Dean lives in Scranton with his wife, Jenny, and they are expecting their fourth child, first girl. His sister Clara lives in Berlin with her boyfriend Wolfgang. Luke's daughter April is a half-scholarship student at MIT and campaigns for marijuana legalization. She is also planning a summer trip to Germany and loves German silent films. Michel has been married to Frederick for five years, who now wants to adopt a child. Christopher, Rory's father, now runs the family business and his daughter Gigi lives in Paris. Luke's sister Liz and her husband TJ are also reported to have accidentally joined a sect. A running gag is that Emily's maid, Berta, stays with her the whole time. Emily usually changed housemaids very often. Berta's origins are uncertain as no one understands her language, and many relatives come to visit regularly and then live in the Gilmore house. She, her husband and children are moving to Nantucket with Emily. Lorelais and Emily's therapist Claudia also appears several times. After first Emily and then Lorelai finish therapy, she takes on the second occupation of the female lead in the musical by Stars Hollow.
