European innovation partnerships for agricultural productivity and sustainability

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Innovation Partnerships Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP Agri) are an instrument of since 2014 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the EU . EIP-Agri aims to help increase agricultural production while consuming less resources and thereby making it more sustainable. The nationwide network for EIP-Agri is the German Network for Rural Areas (DVS). It ensures the exchange between the EIP-Agri actors - through events, information on the website netzwerk-laendlicher-raum.de/eip and a database with EIP projects from Germany.

Operational groups

Operational groups (OGs) are the work units within EIP-Agri that carry out individual projects. OGs are made up of farmers and scientists who work together to develop product and process innovations. An OG can consist of representatives from agriculture, research institutions, associations, advisory institutions and administration.

Background and goal

The aim of the bottom-up approach is for an operational group to take up a specific, practical problem and work on its solution. The heterogeneous composition of the group is intended, on the one hand, to promote the exchange between practitioners and scientists at the group level. On the other hand, this should lead to a faster exchange between practice and research and thus close a gap in previous agricultural research.

financing

EIP-Agri is funded from two sources: the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Horizon 2020 program . Horizon 2020 only funds cross-Member State projects in which partners from at least three Member States participate.
