Roland Hemmo (2005)

Roland Hemmo (born February 25, 1946 in Weißwasser ) is a German radio play speaker , voice actor and actor . With around 1900 dubbed cinema and television films as well as commercials and radio plays, he is one of the busiest German voice actors. He is the standard voice of Brendan Gleeson and Colm Meaney, among others .

Life

After graduating from high school, Hemmo studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . As a performer he subsequently took part in around 1,500 performances, including at venues such as the Theater der Bergarbeiter Senftenberg, the Landestheater Halle, the Theater im Palast Berlin, the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Staatsoper Berlin and the Komische Oper Berlin . He was seen on the screen in 2001 in the film Heidi M. In addition, Hemmo was occasionally engaged for various television productions.

Roland Hemmo was already active as a voice actor in the GDR and from today's perspective is one of the best-known and most frequently used voice actors. His voice acting career began in 1978 in the DEFA dubbing studio in Leipzig with the Polish-Russian production stories from the pilot Pirx based on Stanislaw Lem . In the animated film Finding Dorie , Roland Hemmo dubbed the octopus Hank. Although they have a lot of screen time together, Hemmo only met his colleague Anke Engelke (dubbing voice of Dorie) at the German premiere of the film. Both had recorded their speaking part alone in the dubbing studio.

In 2006 Roland Hemmo was one of the co-founders of the Association of Dubbing Actors (IVS). The IVS was founded in response to the difficult social security situation of dubbing actors. From 2006 to 2012 he was a member of the advisory board for the group of word interpreters in the Society for the Exploitation of Ancillary Rights (GVL). In 2014 he successfully sued for the naming of dubbing actors.
