Taxi is an American sitcom produced by the John Charles Walters Company and Paramount Television. It was first broadcast on ABC from 1978 to 1982 before being shown on NBC from 1982 to 1983 . In Germany, ZDF showed the series from 1980, later it was repeated on Kabel Eins .

The television series is about the New York company Sunshine Cab Company and their taxi drivers. The grouchy boss Louie De Palma is a curmudgeon who wants to constantly monitor his employees. Often the staff consists of part-time jobbers who supplement their income there.
