Judd Hirsch

Judd Seymore Hirsch (born March 15, 1935 in Bronx , New York City , New York ) is an American actor , who became known in his leading role as Alex Reiger in the television series Taxi .

Life

Judd Hirsch was born in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City. He comes from a Jewish family, his parents were mother Sally Hirsch-Kitzis and father Joseph Sidney Hirsch, who worked as an electrician. He attended De Witt Clinton High School and later studied physics at the City College of New York . He was married to his first wife from 1956 to 1958. In 1992 he married Bonnie Sue Chalkin , from whom he separated again in 2003. Hirsch has three children: Alexander Fenton, Montana and London Rocket Hirsch.

For the main role of Alex Reiger , whom he played in the television series Taxi , which was broadcast from 1978 to 1983 on ABC and later on NBC , he first achieved great fame, also in Germany. For his acting performances in the series, he was honored with the Emmy Award in 1981 and 1983 . From 1988 to 1992 he played the leading role in the series My Dear John , for which he won the Golden Globe Award in 1989 . From 2005 to 2010 he was in the US series Numbers - The Logic of Crime . In both TV series he is dubbed by Roland Hemmo . He also had a short appearance as himself in 1999 in the role of Alex Reiger in the film The Moon Man , which is dedicated to the American comedian legend Andy Kaufman , who then played the supporting role of the auto mechanic Latka Gravas in the taxi television series.

Best Supporting Actor Hirsch was in 1981 for his role in Ordinary People for the Oscar nominated. In 1986 and 1992 he received the Tony Award for best actor for acting in the theater.
