Rhea Perlman (born March 31, 1948 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Rhea Perlman grew up with her sister Heide (* 1953) as the daughter of the Polish immigrant and toy seller Phil (* 1919) and the accountant Adele in Brooklyn. There she attended high school and college, which she graduated with a gratuity in acting. She has been married to actor Danny DeVito since 1982 , with whom she has three children, including actress Lucy DeVito .

She has appeared in numerous television and cinema films, but is best known for her role as Carla Tortelli in the sitcom Cheers , in which she plays a rebellious waitress at the bar of the same name. For this role she was eleven years ten times for the Emmy nominated and won it in 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1989. She also played the character of Carla Tortelli with guest appearances in four other series, chief physician Dr. Westphall ( St. Elsewhere ) (episode Cheers , 1985), The Tortellis (pilot, 1987), The Simpsons (episode Fear of Flying , 1994), and the spin-off of Cheers , Frasier (episode Cheerful Goodbyes / Cheers zum Abschied , 2002).

In the film, Perlman et al. a. in Our Hostile Neighbors , a feature film by director Michael Moore .

Her father had extras in Cheers in 1986 . Her sister Heide was involved as a television producer in the creation of several episodes of Cheers and the follow-up series Frasier and also wrote scripts for both series. She is not related to Ron Perlman .
