Ronald Francis Perlman (born April 13, 1950 in New York City ) is an American actor .

Life

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Masters of Fine Arts , Ron Perlman began working in the theater. He took his first role in film directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud in the award-winning film Quest for Fire of 1981. In Germany, he was in 1986 with the role of the monk Salvatore in The Name of the Rose on the novel by Umberto Eco known . From 1987 he played the beast for three years in the CBS- produced television series Beauty and the Beast , for which he won the Golden Globe Award and was twice nominated for an Emmy .

In the 1990s he played in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's films The City of Lost Children and Alien - The Rebirth , with which he also became internationally known. Even in films by Guillermo del Toro Perlman is seen more often, such as Cronos , Blade II and the comic book movies Hellboy and Hellboy 2 , in which he played the lead in each case.

Perlman also speaks roles for many computer games , such as in the Fallout series , The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay , True Crime: Streets of LA , Icewind Dale or Halo 2 and 3 , Payday 2 as well as some cartoons and series .

From 2008 to 2013 Perlman played the role of Clay Morrow in the US series Sons of Anarchy .

Ron Perlman has been married to the fashion designer Opal Stone since February 14, 1981. You have two children. His son Brandon performs as a house and techno DJ under the stage name Delroy Edwards . The family lives in Los Angeles and temporarily in New York. On November 5, 2019, Perlman filed for divorce in the Los Angeles court.
