Elizabeth Dobbs is a student in a Catholic school. In the classroom she studies a gospel in which Jesus meets a demon-possessed man and asks his name. He replies that his name is Legion, because he consists of many. When Father Drake asks her to finish and talks to two other students in front of the open door, Elizabeth is haunted by the demon. The door to the classroom can no longer be opened, the clock stops. After Father Drake can re-enter the room, all he finds is a large pool of blood. However, Elizabeth has disappeared.
Five years later, after the temporary closure, the Catholic institution reopened under the direction of school principal Anna Pearce together with Father Drake. The only students are the five difficult to educate Alex, Mara, the blind Cecilia, Leah and Connie. The most important rule is the ban on entering the third floor of the building where Elizabeth disappeared. Miss Pearce's brutal punishments weld the girls together. Alex now appears more and more often the dead Elizabeth, whose background she does not yet know. All girls realize that they have supernatural abilities. Mara, for example, can heal fresh wounds by the laying on of hands.
One after the other, the five students are now possessed by the demon Legion, each passed on through the murder of a classmate. It turns out that the headmistress Pearce is Elizabeth's sister and through an occult ceremony she promised the demon the five, in return for getting Elizabeth back. Father Drake also falls victim to the demon.
In the final fight, Mara can heal herself, but Alex and Miss Pearce die. The living Elizabeth suddenly appears near the exit of the building when the possessed Anna Pearce appears and takes possession of caretaker Virgil, who is her father and is hugging Elizabeth.
