Beauty and the Beast (Original title: Beauty and the Beast ) is an American drama series with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman in the title roles. It was broadcast on CBS between 1987 and 1990.
action
The focus is on the relationship between Vincent ( Ron Perlman ), a mythical, noble Leo man, and Catherine ( Linda Hamilton ), a talented assistant attorney in New York. A secret utopian community of outsiders that lives hidden underground also plays an important role. Through an empathic connection, Vincent senses Catherine's feelings and becomes her guardian. The series follows the developing relationship between the two characters on the one hand, and portrays the division between New York and the hidden world below on the other. Deviating from the original story, however, the "beast", after it found Catherine's love, is not transformed in the sense of the society's ideals of beauty. Rather, the focus is on the inner beauty of Vincent, from which he is defined as a person, and on the change in Catherine's life, transformed by her relationship with Vincent. The mask for the beast was designed by the multi-Oscar-winning Hollywood specialist Rick Baker .
After Catherine's death in season three, Jo Anderson becomes the new lead actress, who plays Diana Bennet, a police officer who investigates Catherine's murder.
