Linda Carroll Hamilton (born September 26, 1956 in Salisbury , Maryland ) is an American actress . She was best known for the role of Sarah Connor in the films Terminator and Terminator 2 - Reckoning Day .

Career

Linda Hamilton was studying in New York City acting and attended the Actors Studio by Lee Strasberg .

As a trained actress, she first played in smaller, low-budget films before she was hired for one of the leading roles in the soap opera Secrets of Midland Heights in 1980 . She then starred in the film TAG: Assassination Game and one of the leading roles in the Stephen King film adaptation of Children of Wrath . The role of Sarah Connor in James Cameron's hit film Terminator increased her popularity considerably from 1984. In 1986 she starred in Black Moon alongside Tommy Lee Jones .

Then she worked again in television series and was u. a. Her hobby can also be seen in Mord . In the television series Beauty and the Beast , she played the role of Catherine Chandler between 1987 and 1989 . This earned her an Emmy and a Golden Globe nomination. In 1990 she starred in the comedy film Mr. Destiny alongside James Belushi and Michael Caine . The following year, she took on the role of Sarah Connor again in Terminator 2 - Reckoning Day . The film broke records and became one of Hamilton's greatest hits. In 1990, she was also named one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People magazine .

In 1995 she starred in the TV movie A Mother's Prayer alongside Bruce Dern and Kate Nelligan as a mother suffering from AIDS . For this she was nominated for a CableACE Award in the category of best dramatic representation and in 1996 for another Golden Globe. In 1997 she starred in the action thriller The Conspiracy in the Shadows alongside Charlie Sheen and in the disaster film Dante’s Peak alongside Pierce Brosnan . She received a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for her role in Dante's Peak .

From then on, Hamilton was mainly seen in series such as Frasier and Jim Again and again, as well as in numerous television films. In 2009 she spoke in the fourth part of the Terminator series Terminator: The Redemption again the role of Sarah Connor . From 2010 to 2012 she played the role of the long-missing mother of Chuck and Ellie in twelve episodes of the television series Chuck . In 2010 she also made a guest appearance in the series Weeds - Little Deals Among Neighbors . Her work includes more than 70 productions.

In the 2019 film Terminator: Dark Fate , she once again played the lead role. 35 years after the first Terminator film, she is here again as the aged Sarah Connor against a fighting machine from the future. The film is a direct continuation of the second part of the series and ignores the films that follow it.

Private

Linda Hamilton is the daughter of doctor Carroll Stanford Hamilton, who died in a car accident when she was five years old. She has a twin sister named Leslie (who makes two brief appearances as Linda's doppelganger in Terminator 2 - Reckoning Day ), an older sister, and a younger brother. According to her own statement, she grew up in a "very desolate Anglo-Saxon Protestant family " and attended high school in Salisbury with her twin sister. She then studied at Washington College in Chestertown for two years .

Hamilton was married twice, first from 1982 to 1989 to actor Bruce Abbott , with whom she has a son, Dalton Bruce. He was born on October 4, 1989 and played John Connor as a baby in the movie Terminator 2 . In 1997 she married James Cameron , with whom she has a daughter. With the 1999 divorce from Cameron, Hamilton was awarded $ 50 million. The marriage with Cameron was marked "by relentless fighting" and "deep injuries", according to Hamilton.

In October 2005, Hamilton was a guest on Larry King Live , where she stated that she had bipolar disorder , which was the reason why Abbott divorced.

In a 2006 interview with Marshall Julius of blockbuster.co.uk , she reported on the pitfalls and dangers in Hollywood, such as filming a firefight in an elevator for Terminator 2 - Reckoning Day . Hamilton had forgotten to wear her hearing protection and suffered a pop trauma that affects her hearing in one ear to this day. In addition, while filming the film, she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder such as occurs in so-called war tremors. She has now been able to fully recover from the latter.
