James Belushi
James "Jim" Adam Belushi (born June 15, 1954 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an Albanian - American actor and musician and the brother of John Belushi .
Life
Belushi was born in Chicago to Albanian immigrants, Adam Belushi and Agnes Belushi (née Samara). He grew up in Wheaton, Illinois . For a long time he was in the shadow of his older brother John. Only after his death in 1982 was he able to establish himself in the film business.
In high school , a teacher recognized Belushi's talent and persuaded him to take part in a school play. Shortly thereafter, he joined the theater company at his school. He attended Wheaton College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale , from which he graduated with degrees in public speaking and acting.
In 1977 Jim joined Chicago's Second City Improve Troupe. Two years later, Garry Marshall saw him in a Second City performance and wanted him to co-star in the television pilot Who's Watching the Kid (1978) for Paramount Pictures and for the series "Working Stiffs" (1979) in Hollywood . 1983 Belushi first appeared in the legendary comedy show Saturday Night Live , which he left after two years.
His breakthrough came in 1986 with the film About Last Night . He then had success with films such as Red Heat , My partner with the cold snout , Jumpin 'Jack Flash , Homer and Eddie , Mr. Destiny , Abraxas and with a guest appearance as himself in Wag the Dog . From 2001 to 2009, Belushi played the title role in the series Jim Against the Side of Courtney Thorne-Smith . In the two following years he played alongside Jerry O'Connell one of the leading roles in the series The Defenders , which was canceled after only one season by the broadcaster CBS 2011.
In the band The Blues Brothers he played alongside Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as Jake's blood brother Brother Zee Blues . He also has his own band, The Sacred Hearts , and plays theater. He appeared in the play Conversations with My Father by Herb Gardner .
His book Real Men Don't Apologize was published in America in 2005 and became a national bestseller. On November 11, 2008, Belushi was awarded the Order of Honor of the Nation of Albania. On October 11th, 2009 it was announced that Belushi had received Albanian citizenship in Tirana . Years earlier, Belushi's Albanian origins had been publicly mentioned in the satirical film Wag the Dog (1997).
Belushi's standard dubbing voice is Joachim Tennstedt .
Private
Belushi is married for the third time and has three children. On May 17, 1980, he married Sandra Davenport, with whom he has a son. A short time later both divorced. He was then married to Marjorie Bransfield from 1990 to 1992. He has been married to Jennifer Sloan since May 2, 1998, with whom he has two children.
Belushi has always confessed to his Albanian ancestry and often travels to Albania.
In 2011, Belushi announced that he had gout .
