Back to You ( Return to Me ) is an American film drama by Bonnie Hunt from the year 2000 .
action
The Chicago architect Bob Rueland is married to the vet Elizabeth, who works in a zoo. Elizabeth dies in a car accident and her heart is given up for transplant. To overcome his grief, the following year Bob built an outdoor enclosure for the gorillas Elisabeth had worked with.
The chronically ill Grace Briggs receives the heart of the dead Elizabeth, which enables her to lead a normal life. She gets to know Bob without knowing who he is. The two fall in love and begin a relationship, but they don't have sex because Grace is ashamed of her scar and medical history.
When the two learn of the origin of Grace's new heart, she flees to Rome . Bob overcomes the shock and travels after her. They return together for the opening of the gorilla enclosure.
Reviews
James Berardinelli described the film on ReelViews as "amusing" and wrote that it was two-thirds of a romantic comedy and one-third of a drama. It does address fate, but not in depth - not deeper than the film Just for You with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey junior . Although there are numerous romantic comedies with teenagers, there are no comparable comedies with older characters - a void that this film fills.
Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of April 7, 2000 that the film was an "old-fashioned love story" that was so "innocent, naive, sweet and sincere" that the viewer cast off his cynicism at the cinema entrance or another film have to choose. The chemistry between the main actors seems real. The film made the critic smile ("It made me smile a lot").

The film was nominated for the Young Artist Award (for best comedy ) in 2001.
