action

When the 9-year-old Faith Corvatch from Pittsburgh with her brother Larry on a Ouija ironing board plays and reads from that letter that the name Damon Bradley revealed she is convinced that this is where that person is your soul mate, her "second Half "that fate has determined for them. When she was 11 years old, a fortune teller gave her her name again at a fair. 14 years later, Faith is a teacher and just got engaged to Dwayne, a doctor. Ten days before her planned wedding, she gets a call from a school friend of her fiancé who is at the airport. He introduces himself as Damon Bradley and is on his way to Venice .

Faith, who was trying on her wedding dress, storms to the airport without changing, but just misses Bradley's flight. She calls her sister-in-law Kate, who is supposed to pack a few things and her passport for her and bring them to the airport, because she wants to take the next plane to Venice to follow him. Kate decides to come with her - she is married to Faith's brother Larry and has not been happy with him for a long time.

Arrived in Venice, Bradley has already left again and they follow him to Rome . Kate met the businessman Giovanni there and had a romance with him. Faith meets a man in Rome who pretends to be Damon Bradley, later it turns out that he is a shoe retailer by the name of Peter Wright. He claims to have passed himself off as Bradley because he fell in love with Faith at first sight and his white lie was the only way to see her again. Faith doesn't think his behavior is excusable and doesn't want to hear from him anymore. The next day she wants to leave Italy again, but just as she is about to leave, Peter stops her and explains to her that he has now found the right Damon Bradley for her. Giovanni now drives Faith, Kate and Peter to Positano in his car , where Bradley is supposed to stay.

In a hotel in Positano they finally meet the person they are looking for and Faith makes an appointment with the supposedly real Damon Bradley. Peter watches them suspiciously, and when he has to watch him grope Faith in the evening, he goes after Faith. At the end of the scuffle it turns out that this Damon Bradley is not the real one, but Harry, an actor hired by Peter. In this way Peter was able to prevent her from leaving Italy and from continuing to be with her. Faith is disappointed and upset by Peter's renewed lie. The next morning Faith sends a telegram home to cancel her wedding. Giovanni leaves the hotel with Peter. Shortly thereafter, a taxi arrives with Kate's husband, Larry, who tracked her down in Italy based on her credit card statements. Larry tells her that he loves her and doesn't want to lose.

After Faith also left, Larry Kate admits that the name Damon Bradley never had anything to do with fate, rather it was all just a joke he was behind: As a child he influenced the Ouija board so that it did the Name Damon Bradley and later he paid the fortune teller to call her that name again.

Faith and Peter have meanwhile arrived at the airport independently of each other for their return journey when suddenly an announcement is made asking Damon Bradley for information. Both rush to the information, where they meet and now really get to know a real Damon Bradley. Peter introduces them both to each other and, disappointed, makes his way back to his flight home. When Damon asks Faith if she loves Peter, she realizes that she actually loves him and that she was just chasing the illusion Damon Bradley was. She rushes to Peter's plane, which has already been processed and is about to take off. Faith makes it clear to the airport staff that the man she loves is in the plane. The plane is stopped and the staff bring Faith to the machine. Faith gets in and surprises Peter, who takes her in his arms and kisses her.
