Nicholas Pike

Nicholas H. Pike (* 1955 in Water Orton , Warwickshire , England ) is a British composer .

Life

After Nicholas H. Pike was accepted into the prestigious Canterbury Cathedral Choir School at the age of seven , he learned not only to sing, but also to play the flute and piano . His family later moved to South Africa , where he sang in the choir of St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town and played with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra . After playing with the South African band Hammak and coming into contact with musical styles such as rhythm and blues and jazz , he decided to study at Berklee College of Music after graduating from high school in the USA . During his student days he played the flute both in Boston and in New York City in various bands and with well-known musicians such as Bill Frisell , Billy Hart , Hank Roberts , Bill Connors , Naná Vasconcelos and Kenny Werner .

With the London Symphony Orchestra Pike recorded the piece Master Herold and the Boys in 1985 and with the orchestra of Abbey Road Studios he recorded his first film music in 1986 for the horror film Night Shift . He then composed for well-known cinema productions such as Critters 2 - They Are Returning , Captain Ron and Attack of the 20-Meter Woman .
