action
Cleveland in the 1960s: The hip rock 'n' roll DJ Billy Magic offers the 17-year-old student and Hungarian refugee Karchy an assistant job. The latter cheats occasionally and tries to get the girl Diney around, but he fails. He gets ridiculed at school, but in his new job he can drive a Cadillac and feel big. He helps a music group he is friends with to get a record deal, but this later turns out to be a toggle contract. When detectives appear in the studio, the suspicion becomes clear that Karchy was being used as a money carrier.
Karchy testifies in court that he only delivered the audience mail. He and his father pass the naturalization process and become an American citizen.
