Calista Flockhart
Calista Kay Flockhart (born November 11, 1964 in Freeport , Illinois ) is an American actress . Her best-known role is that of Ally McBeal in the television series of the same name .
life and career
Flockhart grew up in several US states ( Illinois , Iowa , Minnesota , New Jersey and New York ) because her father often moved with the family for professional reasons. After graduating from high school, she began to study acting at Rutgers University in New Jersey, which she graduated with a bachelor's degree. After working on Broadway , where she, among other things in the Tennessee Williams -Stück Glass Menagerie played, she got her first major film roles, including 1996 The Birdcage - A paradise for birds shrill and 1997 American Dreamer - Charming liar .
Her breakthrough came in 1997 in the role of Ally McBeal in the television series of the same name. The great success with ratings ran until 2002. Flockhart was nominated for an Emmy in 1998, 1999 and 2001 . In 1998 she received the Golden Globe for her role and in 2000 the People's Choice Award . In 1998, 2000 and 2001 she and the ensemble received the Screen Actors Guild Award . From September 2006 to spring 2011 she appeared in the ABC series Brothers & Sisters . She starred in it as the daughter of Sally Field and as the sister of Rachel Griffiths .
Flockhart, who has an adopted son (* 2001), has lived with fellow actor Harrison Ford since 2002 . The couple has been married since June 15, 2010.
