2001 Primetime Emmy Awards
The 2001 Emmy Awards were held on November 4, 2001 at the Shubert Theater . The 53rd edition of the Emmy Awards was originally supposed to take place in the Shrine Auditorium , but the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , four days before the planned award ceremony, made it necessary to postpone it. The second appointment had to be rescheduled because of the beginning of the war in Afghanistan . Ellen DeGeneres hosted the evening .
Barbra Streisand sang at the end in honor of the victims of September 11th You'll Never Walk Alone .
